Predicting What Exactly Bradley Maule Will Be Pissed About At This Week’s Concert In The Park

So we’re about two hours from the kick off of our third week of Concerts in the Park. Dr. Dog MURDERED week one, Capitol Years got through theirs without a hitch (wakka wakka) and this week Bitter Bitter Weeks and Jotto are primed to set your hearts aflutter. But if you’re Philly Skyline’s Bradley Maule, you won’t be listening to them. No, if you’re Bradley Maule, you’ll be sulking—stewing about something you’re seeing go down in the park that’s just not meeting your standards at all, by God. On week one Bradley took to Philebrity to decry the absence of local coverage for what he (quite rightly) thought was the city’s premiere event since Live 8. The next week a homeless amputee climbed on stage with Capitol Years and, oh man, Bradley lost it, finding fault with the city, PW, the liquor served in the “VIP” tent (quotes are Bradley’s—oh, I get it!!!!) and even going so far as to feel deep empathy for the employees working the Wednesday night shift at Barnes and Noble across the street, who no doubt had their hands full with the droves of people sent scurrying from Rittenhouse in search for a place to relieve themselves. For real! Read all of it here. (He’s commenter number 7, Beelove.) So anyway, without further delay, we here at Make Major Moves and PW will try and predict just what exactly will get under Bradley Maule’s skin this week.

Rhino Decides It Hates Your Ears, Releases Peter Gabriel Era Genesis Box Set

Should you find yourself walking around town on November 11th with $139 in your pocket and a desire to punish your eardrums, Rhino records is releasing Genesis: The Beginning (get it?), a box set exposing listeners to the 1970 -1975 Peter Gabriel era of the band. Otherwise known as the “era of Genesis you shouldn’t listen to” ‘70 – ‘75 was much less, um, song-based than the latter, Phil Collins driven outfit (otherwise known as “the other era of Genesis you shouldn’t listen to.”)

Details of the box after the jump. Like any one of the songs included here, it’s lonnnnnnnng:

Road Trip: James Chance And The Contortions Play New York City

Ever play a James Chance and the Contortions song for your parents? It’s great. They hate it. And not like they hate rap music or most racket that comes out of the radio. No. White hot with rage. Even hated it more than, say, Minor Threat or the Exploited or whatever other punk rock record with loads of curse words we’d play for them. Because, you see, what James Chance does isn’t music. It’s art or something. And it really pisses off older generations when they’re listening to a perfectly pleasant and danceable bass line and, quite suddenly, it’s ruined by a beer bottle or whatever running amok all over the amplified fret board of a guitar that’s there simply to make things go off kilter and out of time on some ole “Choke on this fuckin’ ART” type shit! And, oh man, his voice. “That’s not singing!” Hahahaha. Thinking of my mom’s face right now. Classic. Oh, and James Chance and the Contortions play New York Shitty this weekend. Check it:
