Why We Love Byron Crawford
There are certain friends you can’t talk about Byron Crawford with. They think he’s racist, or sexist, or is single-handedly ruining the hip-hop game (what this means, we have no idea), and who knows, they may have a point. Some of the things he writes do make us a little uneasy. But often that passes and gives way to laughter. Fact is, we admire the guy. He’s got balls. Long ago we wrote he’s a “blogging’s master craftsmen” in the pages of PW. We’re sticking with it. And not just because that snippet made its way onto Crawford’s Wiki, but because it’s true. The man’s received death threats from Roots’ collaborator Dice Raw and a whole host of others. But we’re getting off track. The reason we’re loving Crawford today is his ability to boil an issue down to its essence in as little as a few words. As you may have heard, Republican Veep candidate Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter Bristol is pregnant. Crawford’s headline? “Bristol Palin is down to fuck.” [Byron Crawford]
