Maybe Some Reasons To Actually Watch The Grammys

Yeah, the Grammys are kinda boring. And mainstream. And overly self-congratulatory. And mostly predictable. And meaningless to most true music fans. But we’ll still probably watch it. To that end, some of the freshly announced performances sound somewhat promising: Paul McCartney will be backed by Foo Fighters Dave Grohl on drums (where he belongs, not up front); Radiohead (who’ve never before played the Grammys) graces the small screen for its first live U.S. TV performance in nearly a decade; Justin Timberlake and T.I. will team up to get panties wet; and Jay-Z, T.I., Lil’ Wayne, and Kanye West will get together to perform “Swagga Like Us.” Lil’ Wayne — who’ll probably win about 294 Grammys — is also set to perform solo. These fine folks join a lineup of performers that already includes Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, the Jonas Brothers, Kenny Chesney, Katy Perry and Carrie Underwood. The 51st Grammys airs Sunday, February 8 on CBS.
