Repping Philly At SXSW
Music festivals may be biting the dust, but it looks like pretty smooth sailing for the annual South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas in March, which despite the presence of thousands of bands performing and schmoozing in the hopes of getting attention from record label reps, and fans flocking from all corners of the country to catch their favorite acts, is mostly a music industry confab (i.e. drinking a shit-ton of Lone Star beer, gorging on BBQ, and trying to hook up with that publicist/journalist/manager/etc. you’ve talked to on the phone for years but never actually met in person but who turns out to be pretty cute, especially after lots of said Lone Stars) than anything, and thus immune from any struggles to sell tickets.
This year, the Philly music scene is fairly well represented. Among our locals playing SXSW:
The Death Set
Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies
Good Old War
Mr. Lif
Notekillers
Papertrigger
Reef the Lost Cauze
Sanguine Piss
U.S. Girls
The Asteroid #4
Drink Up Buttercup
The War on Drugs

Hi,
Philly also has a rep in the Interactive part of SXSW! Little old me.
Monday 3/16 5pm “Back off! I’m a scientist!” About the growing role of citizen scientists. Me, a former 76ers cheerleader, and two brainiacs will be on the panel. Sweet, smart, Google guy is the moderator. I hope to make Philly proud
