SXSW-ing With: Drink Up Buttercup

Philly’s upstart psych-popsters Drink Up Buttercup are still another local act hoping to wow ‘em at SXSW down in Austin, Texas this week. We caught up with singer Jim Harvey this morning while the band was en route to the festivities:

What are you most looking forward to about SXSW?
Lone Star and Shiner Bock, we’ve been told…

What do you hope to get out of playing at SXSW?
Money?

How do you plan to rep Philly at SXSW?
With authority and a mannequin head.

Who are some of the other acts you’re hoping to catch at SXSW?
We weren’t informed that other bands were playing at this event.

What’s the best success story you’ve ever heard of that came out of SXSW?
Our friend’s band Bloodfart won an ancient 14th century goblet.

Schmoozing with music industry people: Love it or hate it?
We’ve never been schmoozed by a label, but our buddies in Bloodfart tell us it’s very flattering.

Ideally, what one celebrity or famous musician would you like to be in the crowd to witness your SXSW showcase?
The Goo and/or Corn Mo.

Lone Star or Shiner Bock?
We’ve never been to Texas, but I just texted my buddies in Bloodfart and they said Lone Star, hands down.
