SXSW: The Death Set

Last night Death Set brought their act to Austin’s Beauty Bar for the IHEARTCOMIX showcase. It was a sweaty and electric 25 minute burst of heat, with a throng of young boozers lunging toward the stage, singing most every lyric to most every song the group played, including two covers—one of them a room-wrecking version of “Territorial Pissing” by Nirvana. Death Set moved from Australia to Baltimore and then to Philly, where they now live, and the crowd was as diverse a mix as the cities they’ve called home. They play Danger Danger Gallery in West Philly on March 29th. There will be blood.
