SXSW: “I Heard Metallica Play ‘One’ From Outside!”

The big shit deal (and worst kept secret in the world) yesterday was that Metallica was playing a surprise show to promote a video game. They did, and there may have been as many people outside Stubbs open air venue listening to them as their were inside. Meanwhile, across town, more metal mayhem was being melded (alliteration!). L.A.’s Crash Kings completely killed a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” No easy feat, considering the band has no guitars.
