Remember The Spectrum
I’ve been having a blast the past hour or so over at Remember the Spectrum, which has a thorough database that includes every single event (concerts, sporting events, the circus, etc.) that has happened at the venerable (and soon to be demolished) arena since it opened in 1967. You can search by month and year — by randomly plugging in June 1983, I discovered that Michael Bolton opened for Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band on June 21st and June 22nd of that year — or you can check out an alphabetical list of all the bands/musicians that have played there and when: Big Daddy Kane, 3 times; Foghat, 5 times; The Kinks, 11 times; Milli Vanilli, 2 times; Lawrence Welk, 2 times; W.A.S.P., just once!
Man, I’ll miss that old dump when it’s gone…

As conclusive as it might appear-there are some errors/mistakes/ommissions from this all around concert list.
Didnt have the Blue Oyster Cult/Manfred Mann’s Earth Band/Angel show from 10/15/76.
Again the BOC show on Jan 7th 1984 had listed Zebra and Dokken as support. It was Eddie Money and Sanford Townsend Band who were the support!
For The Dave Mason show (1976), it omitted Flo and Eddie who had opened the show. Though BeBop Deluxe had cancelled!
Plus there were other ommissions like Spirit only playing the Spectrum like once at the Spectrum’s 20th Anniversary Show in Feb 1988.
Not true.
Quite sure whomever compiled this list did the best job they could….but if one want to the shows, they would have remembered them exactly when they happened!
But other than that…..yes the Spectrum Theatre will be missed! Being in the public eye for over 40 years (!) in the late 60’s/the 70’s/the 80’s/the 90’s/and the new milliniuem. Sorry to see it go!
