Sonic Youth Takes Over WXPN
Following in the footsteps of such recent “takeover artists” as Of Montreal, A.C. Newman, Dandy Warhols, and Dr. Dog, Sonic Youth — who took over Electric Factory a week ago — is the latest “Y-Rock Radio Takeover” band to commandeer the WXPN airwaves: Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo (who we interviewed last week) will take control of 88.5 FM tomorrow (Friday) evening starting at 9 p.m., and they promise to play cuts from Richard Hell and The Voidoids, The Hold Steady, New York Dolls, Patti Smith, and others.
