The Greatest Drowning Pool Interview You’ll Likely Ever Hear
For a long time now we’ve been in awe of Bob Schriner—a fellow writer and good friend—and his madcap humor. A writer for Chunklet magazine and sometimes tour manager for the Whitest Kids You Know, he’s also the king of the prank call, and anything else that requires the ability to keep a straight face when staring straight into the eyes of the absurd. So when the publicists for Motley Crue’s Crue Fest tour started calling every 15 minutes to see if anyone on staff would be interested in an interview with the band Drowning Pool we called Bob and asked if he’d give it a shot for us here at “Philadelphia New Times.” He was down. Our only instructions: “Just be you.” Don’t want to spoil it, but after the first “You’ve heard this one 1,000 times” question—asked so as to not tip his hand—Bob launches into one of the most surreal interviews with Stevie from Drowning Pool (not sure his role in the band) you’ll likely ever here. Hysterical.

This guy is brilliant! Articulate to the point that you think he’s straight up, but then POW, he just socked that guy in the mouth. Funny thing is, that guy just takes the hits and keeps on going. That’s amazing.
