The Horrors Return To Philly (Here’s Some Photos From Last Time)
So, the brooding British garage-rock band the Horrors — think Suicide meets Black Rebel Motorcycle Club meets the Cramps — are coming back to town to play Johnny Brenda’s tomorrow night [9pm/$13]. They’re getting pretty big. Aside from the buzz around their own tunes, It was just announced that they’re collaborating with Damon Albarn on the next Gorillaz album. I was poking around the magazine section of a Barnes & Noble recently and a headline on one of the music mags screamed out, “The Horrors: The Best Band on the Planet?” or some such something. Not entirely sure about that — I saw them open for the Kills at the TLA back in May and they were okay. They seemed more pompous and rock-star-ish than their music deserved, but it was all right. Maybe they’re used to playing their headlining gigs and couldn’t get all that inspired being a support act. Hopefully things will be a little more electric tomorrow night. In any event, I shot some photos of the Horrors at the TLA but completely forgot about it until this morning, when I processed them — figured I’d post a few so you see what you might be getting yourself into:
