After the Kottonmouth Kings wrapped up their set, we stood near the photo pit, debating whether or not to go back in for the imminent Insane Clown Posse set. Though this was our very first ICP show, we were aware that the group is known for spraying its fans with Faygo soda, but a few of the security guys explained to us just how far-reaching and all-covering the sticky stuff would be. Seeing as how we didn’t want to damage a couple thousand dollars’ worth of camera gear, we retreated to a VIP balcony toward the back of Electric Factory. There, we ran into ICP rapper Violent J’s girlfriend, Michelle “Sugar Slam” Rapp (she’s the blonde in the infamous ICP “Gathering of the Juggalos” infomercial) and the couple’s two young children, whom Rapp graciously allowed us to snap a quick photo of:
And then it was showtime! And good thing we were up top, because within minutes the Faygo — hundreds, if not thousands, of two-liter bottles of the stuff over the course of the set — began to spray all over the place as Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope and their dancing clowns kicked off their ruckus for the nearly sold-out, jacked-up crowd. Soon enough, the smell of root beer overpowered even the smell of pot smoke. Here’s a photo slideshow — enjoy!
