MC Chris Kicked A Fan Out Of His Union Transfer Show Tuesday And Then The Internet Backlash About It Made Him Cry

mcchris

On Tuesday night geek rapper MC Chris kicked a fan out of his Union Transfer show for Tweeting an insult about his opener. The fan, Mike Taylor, tweeted “Dear nerd rapper opening for Powerglove/mc chris. You’re not good enough to pander to me. Better luck next time.” When Chris took the stage he called out Taylor, and asked him to identify himself. When he did, Chris had him forcibly removed from the venue. And thanks to the Internet, that’s not the end of the story.

Yesterday Taylor recounted his story in a reddit music forum. His experience,  it turns out, is just the tip of the iceberg of “MC Chris treated me like shit/kicked me out/was an asshole to me/told my girlfriend she was too fine to be with a fat fuck like me and asked her if her dad had raped her and why she had no self esteem when we went to shake his hand at the Van’s Warped Tour” stories. Taylor, a long time fan of Chris’ since ‘04, had opened Pandora’s Box, and MC Chris got buried by the Internet, outraged fans who resonated with Taylor’s story of being mistreated by him stood up and said “Me too.”

Chris heard the feedback, and initially remained defiant in the face of it, posting on his Facebook “last night I kicked someone out for being a dick to my opener richie branson on twitter. now this guy’s got his pals calling me hitler on twitter or twitler as I now call it. they say I don’t allow opinions. wrong. I just don’t like it when u insult my friends and i don’t really want you in the building. I have nothing against opinions. i have something against you insulting my friends. pretty simple. #haternerds”

Then, after what must have seemed liked wave after wave of  “NO, YOU REALLY ARE AN ASSHOLE AND SHOULD TREAT US, YOUR FANS, WITH MORE COURTESY” crashed down on Chris’ tiny body, he finally gave in to the idea that they knew what they were talking about, and it was time to pause for a moment of self reflection. So he tweeted an apology video. In it he breaks down crying. It’s all a bit surreal, but not all together unexpected, maybe, from a guy who makes a living rapping in an irritatingly high-pitched voice  about Star Wars.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, Union Transfer offered Taylor a full refund. There are a bunch of photos of the incident over at the Gauntlet if you’re interested. Be good to one another.
