Some pressers came over at the beginning of the week and maybe our whining about September ending with weakness paid off. Three winners have recently announced some spots in Philly that are sure to be worth a few of your hard-earned American dollars.

1. NAS & MS. LAURYN HILL

Alright, Ms. Hill doesn’t have a stellar reputation. You saw her sing in fireworks at the WaWa Welcome America celebration on the Parkway this summer. She didn’t sound awesome. And it’s not clear whether or not that she was late or kept the performances running long, but she was wailing with those raspy pipes we love so much well past the pyrotechnic start time. If we’re not mistaken there was some booing involved. She’s been pretty notoriously LATE to the stage, and that may happen on N7th Street, but tickets are on sale now for a seemingly co-headlined night at the Factory on Wednesday, November 7th.

2. TAME IMPALA

The Aussie psych rockers have impressed us in short time. On their second LP, Lonerism, they’ve actually managed to pick upĀ  more momentum that they had going for them with their debut, Innerspeaker. Their sophomore’s for sale next week but you can give a listen at the lovely First Listen page and get floored by their shimmery, stomping guitar haze. They’ve announced a giant world tour and their second date upon returning from the UK is at our own Union Transfer on Thursday, November 8th.

3. BLEEDING RAINBOW

Formerly known as Reading Rainbow, the husband-and-wife-team-who’ve-enlisted-two-others (Rob, Sarah, Al and Greg) are from Philadelphia and continue to do us proud. Mr. Elliot Sharp asked em’ to finish some sentences late last year before a show at the Level Room. The loud-as-hell post-everything rockers are on Kanine and their sophomore’s been pushed back to a January of 2013 release as opposed to next week, however the single “Pink Ruff” got a video you can check out here. With a massive fall tour, they’ll kick it off in our fair city at Johnny Brenda’s. This is a show that will melt faces and blow out ear drums (seriously, you might want some plugs). JB’s will host em’ on October 12th.
