Switcheroo: Big Boi And His Label Pull Little Dragon And Sub Kelly Rowland On “Mama Told Me”

We’re still pretty excited about Big Boi’s impending Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (due November 13th), but this last minute switch feels a little shady. The Little Dragon and Big Boi collaboration we were so excited about seems to have fallen by the wayside due to business and label issues. And now BB releases “Mama Told Me” with Kelly Rowland lending her voice to what still feels like a Little Dragon track. Smells fishy. Here’s what Little Dragon (as a whole?) have to say about the sitch:

“It is true that Little Dragon made the “Mama Told Me” track with Big Boi and even performed it live in Austin for The Fader. The whole collaboration was an amazing creative experience. Unfortunately, business terms out of our control got in the way, and an agreement couldn’t be reached in time for our version of the track to be released. At least new friendships were made, and we want to wish Big Boi good luck with the album. We look forward to collaborating with him in the future.”

But here’s a link to the Kelly feature before you watch LD and BB perform their version of the track for The Fader in Austin:
