Republican ‘Redefine Rape’ Bill, Co-Sponsored By Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick, Dies

ciphotos-61349505782727Politico is reporting that everyone’s favorite House Bill, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which would redefine rape so Real Americans don’t have to pay for LIBERAL ABORTIONS has met an untimely doom. This must be a sad day for Bucks/Northeast Philly Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick who co-sponsored the bill alongside a who’s who of anti-women’s rights radicals throughout the U.S. House of Representatives. Check out this graphic which comes to us by way of Democracy Underground for a list of co-sponsors:

The legislation was originally introduced by Rep. Chris Smith, a Republican from Dirty Jerz and proposed the rape exemption for federally-funded abortions be limited to “forcible rape.” Teary-eyed Speaker John Boehner said getting this passed was a top priority in congress.

Mother Jones summed it up pretty well here:

With this legislation, which was introduced last week by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Republicans propose that the rape exemption be limited to “forcible rape.” This would rule out federal assistance for abortions in many rape cases, including instances of statutory rape, many of which are non-forcible. For example: If a 13-year-old girl is impregnated by a 24-year-old adult, she would no longer qualify to have Medicaid pay for an abortion. (Smith’s spokesman did not respond to a call and an email requesting comment.)

Given that the bill also would forbid the use of tax benefits to pay for abortions, that 13-year-old’s parents wouldn’t be allowed to use money from a tax-exempt health savings account (HSA) to pay for the procedure.

They also wouldn’t be able to deduct the cost of the abortion or the cost of any insurance that paid for it as a medical expense.

Of course statutory rape isn’t the sole definition of non-“forcible” rape, either. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) called “the proposal of this bill a violent act against women.

Well, it’s dead now, sure, but keep up the good fight, Rep. Fitzpatrick! With enough courage and luck, one day you’ll save taxpayers all sorts of money after they stop paying for abortions in which the raped are poor, were drugged and/or molested by their pedophile grandfather, creep.
