2012 Election: Drudge? Palin? Cain? What Killed Newt?

canditateportrait_2DownIn a Republican primary that’s become cliché in its weirdness, another candidate has seemingly crashed and burned over the last week. It’s former Speaker Newt Gingrich. And after winning South Carolina by double-digits, it looks like he’s set to lose Florida by a similar margin.

It’s hard to tell how, exactly, this happened. But it might come down to a distilled combination of three people: Matt Drudge, Herman Cain and Sarah Palin. As we wrote last week, the Drudge Report was brutal in its attacks on Gingrich, and not for anything substantial: Just because he criticized former president Ronald Reagan as being a shitty guy behind closed doors during that administration’s tenure.

Then, three Republicans came to Gingrich’s aid. Unfortunately, they were Herman Cain, Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson, all of whom are known for nothing outside their Republican celebrity status; none of whom have any real political accomplishments to speak of, unless personal wealth counts. Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs is calling this “another dreaded Sarah Palin Kiss of Death.” So, yeah: That failed!

'I would have endorsed you. That would have spiced things up!'

'I could have endorsed you. That would have spiced things up!'

Now, according to an average of polls from NBC, Insider Advantage, PPP, Rasmussen and others, former liberal social medicine provider Mitt Romney leads Gingrich by 11.5 points, with Ron Paul and Rick Santorum lagging somewhere in the single digits, watching their equal-in-strength, opposite-in-substance radicalism fade away faster than an early 2000s rock-rap band. And meanwhile, Gingrich is still walking a fine line on Romney’s record of gangster capitalism—proof the Occupy movement has made a dent, even in the Republican party, according to members of the Occupy movement.

The primary is tomorrow. The inevitable Republican candidate Romney is getting closer to becoming a reality.

We are closing schools, laying people off. Families are being foreclosed on and being put out in the streets. And all Santorum, running for President can talk about is who is Gay. We need to start looking at what is best for the country. We are not in high school any more. Hello!!! Yes it is a good way to raise money. But I think the Republicans have a “gay agenda”, more than the gay community has. They have nothing to say, so they go for the gay! It will be a dark day for ALL of us if this man wins. It is not just a Gay thing; Santorum has frequently stated that he does not believe a “right to privacy” exists under the Constitution, even within marriage. The boy and girl kind!
On the other side of this run.
Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Speaker Gingrich during his term, including claiming tax-exempt status for a college course run for political purposes. However we say it, Mr. Gingrich is all about the money (ask wife number three). In a recent story, “Gingrich was ask to return the estimated $1.6 million he received for providing strategic advice to Freddie Mac, the quasi-government agency (an agency that has lost millions) that guarantees home mortgages. Gingrich has said he acted as a historian, not a lobbyist”. A “historian”, is that the history of greed? He may just sell you a book on it!

With all the faults of Newt, Rick, or Ron Pauls past puplication hysteria. nothing in any of their past or present proclamations are as aggrievious and repugnant, as the GOP Establishment forcing this Mild Mannered Moderate Mormon from Mass, on America as our only alternative to Obama.I see Obama winnig over Mild MITT! All my family and many friends are thinking, we’ll just sit this one out, before voting for another Bush H.”New World Ored”, Shrub W. “Islam is a good and peaceful religion”, Loser Dole, and Waspy McCain.

I would rather have Obama finish taking this counrty down, than cave in to these elite GOP Power Brokers. I believe these middle of the road moderates are more pathetic than George Soros. There is nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead skunks!!!
