Philly State Rep. Apologizes for ‘Year of the Bible’ Vote
This afternoon, Philly State Rep. Mark Cohen held a press conference in Harrisburg urging his colleagues to reconsider last month’s resolution which labeled 2012 the “Year of the Bible” by the state government. Cohen was joined by the Pennsylvania Council of Churches, the American Civil Liberties Union and American Atheists.
At the press conference, he and other lawmakers apologized for not paying attention to the State House agenda and said he hopes to wipe the vote from the record. As we reported earlier, the motion was amongst a series of “noncontroversial” bills in the House, except that it is. No motion to reconsider the bill has been scheduled.
