Mayor Nutter, DA Williams, Others Unveil Obama ‘Truth Team’
Mayor Michael Nutter and several other local politicians met this afternoon in City Hall to unveil the local arm of President Obama’s “Truth Team,” a national effort meant to promote the president’s achievements in office and fight back against what supporters say are right-wing distortions of his record.
“We’re here today to…make sure people know the truth about what the president has done while in office and to respond to and anticipate the Republican attacks,” said Mayor Nutter, who was joined by DA Seth Williams, State Rep. Babette Josephs, City Councilwoman Cindy Bass, City Controller Alan Butkovitz and State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams. “Unfortunately, we’ve seen these attacks already and know they’ll be coming soon to Pennsylvania.”
The Truth Team probably isn’t as 1984 as it sounds. It’s basically an extension of then-candidate Obama’s “Stop the Smears” meme set up in 2008, when your grandma was absolutely positive he was a devout Secret Muslim. (Now, of course, he’s simply at “war” with religion. All of them.) Truth Teams are set up all over the country, consisting of both politicos and civilian volunteers. Pennsylvania’s entire Team consists of 35 politicians.
In addition to information at Obama’s website, the campaign has launched KeepingHisWord.com, KeepingGOPHonest.com and AttackWatch.com—all of which will be a sort of “Media Matters” and “Fact Check” of the president’s campaign for re-election.
Right-wing news sites and blogs have already begun smearing the Truth Team idea, the philosophy of which we’re not going to try to rationalize here, for fear of our heads exploding. Newsbusters called the idea “pretending that what is true really isn’t.” And Big Government has referred to an Ohio-based Truth Team as “Obama’s attack dogs.” It’s in that vein Obama’s supporters feel such an effort is necessary.
“Mitt Romney has already proven that he will literally say anything to distort the president’s record and his own,” Nutter continued. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, he said, “is out of step with most Americans. Pennsylvania voters clearly rejected him soundly last time he was on the ballot and if somehow, some way he is the ultimate winner, we will be sure to remind Pennsylvania voters why they rejected him many years ago.”
Nutter’s comments were in line with a Pennsylvania for Obama email sent out last night, which asks Obama supporters in the state to remind themselves and each other of who Santorum is, and what he did.
DA Seth Williams spoke, as well, telling those in attendance he’s not just an Obama supporter, but as the District Attorney, “I’ve already sworn to uphold the truth,” saying he takes the issue both seriously and personally.
Mayor Nutter and company… grow up. Come on folks, Barack Obama has only made life WORSE for the people of America and especially the working poor of Philadelphia with his policies. Real unemployment (i.e. the people who have stopped looking for work in addition to those on unemployment) is now 15% in some areas and double that when you look at the black community. Speaking of the black community, why does Obama surround himself with elitist white liberals instead of African Americans? Obama got 98 percent of the black vote in 08 but what have African Americans got in return? Speaking of African Americans, they should be especially troubled by Obama’s aggressive pandering to the abortion industry. I invite everyone reading this to search the history of Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger. This woman was an unapologetic racist who advocated abortion as a method to control the black population. Abortion even to this day is a holocaust against the black population so it makes no sense whatsoever that Obama should have the support of Black America.

I think the fact that Obama has to steep so low as to organized people to put out a positive message about him says a lot. If his record was so pristine, he would not have to put these ‘Truth’ teams together, and his record would stand on it’s own, regardless of what the GOP or others say. He will go down in history as one of the most ineffective Presidents of all time.

Every politician and large business in the country uses PR people to put out positive spin about them. Heck, George Bush even paid newspaper columnists to write nice things about his policies, remember that?
Wow I sure wish our DA would concentrate on improving the rate of successful prosecutions of violent criminals in Philly. That’s something the GOP is right about — homicides are climbing in Philly as we speak.
Is it too much to hope that pols do the job they were paid to do first, before engaging in partisan politics on the public dime?

I know of no other politician who has assembled a spin team of currently elected politicians who are not on the Obama campaign payroll to work to get him re-elected.

Mayor Nutter must be stoned out his mind, Barack Obama is a communist who has not told the truth since he was a union thug in chicago(i.e. community organizer remember (ACORN) registering dead people & illegal aliens to vote for obama, THE GUY CANNOT WIN AN HONEST ELECTION, he shut down the keystone pipeline, then has the balls to say he opened more federal lands for drilling, when in fact the only drilling going on is on private lands, the only companies drilling off of our shores are foreign entities who are going to sell us oil they drilled on oure shores, take BRAZIL for instance obama gave them 3 billion dollars of U.S. taxpayers money so they could drill for and when they do strike oil they said they were going to sell the oil to CHINA, plus he is giving billions of taxpayer money to green companies that keep failing, thereby wasting all that money whereas the taxpayer gets screwed again thank again mr.obama for sticking it up my ass again
this is what happens when the press will not vett Obama, the first gay president, nothing wrong with being gay, but what happened to Anthony Weiner ? what happened to the other politicians who were playing around ? the press reported it. Obamas next door neighbor, Tony Rezko gave Obama thousands of dollars, his wife brought a lot next to Obamas multi million dollar home and gave it t him, does a gangster give thousands to someone and not expect anything back ?

Stop demonising Obama. He’s the only president who has the best intention for the middle class americans. Judging from the foul language and abuse some of you are using, you deserve more to be led by a local madman or thug than the hard working and honest man Obama.
