Lower Merion, Temple Students Spying on Themselves Being Dumb

When not suing the school district for allegedly spying on them via cameras installed in school-issued laptops, Lower Merion High School students are filming themselves getting wasted.

As CBS 3 reported, it’s called “getting shmacked,” yo!

“The video on YouTube is drawings strong reactions from the D.A., school leaders and parents,” reports anchor Chris May. “And adding to their outrage, T-shirts that commemorate the underage drinking and drug use.”

Getting shmacked, they explain, is getting “so high on drugs and alcohol you are no longer able to have any idea what you’re doing.”

Cue highlight reel of students showing off a handle of vodka, taking bong hits and a wasted guy staggering down a staircase.

It’s all part of a documentary coming out this summer.

On Twitter, the bio of “I’m Shmacked” reads: “A movie documenting the experience of a weekend at 20 of the best and biggest universities around the United States intertwined with a book and a website.”

As BostInno elaborated last September, “’I’m Shmacked’ is a documentary currently in the works. The purpose of the project is to visit 12 of the best colleges and universities around the country, and choose one student from each school to follow for at least three days. That experience will be recorded to show how diversity differs at each college and highlight what makes that school so special to its students.”

“There’s a Chiddy Bang concert tonight,” announces the Temple student starring in the clip. “We’re getting fucked up.”

Next, they show a guy puking, then another guy dance-humping an unidentified woman appearing to do “the Jersey Turnpike” a la Deena from Jersey Shore.

The Shmacked meme making the promotional rounds via news outlets is bad timing for Temple University, which is still recovering from both the revelation that it is on a top 20 list of schools for female students joining a thinly disguised escort service and a budget announcement from the Gov. Corbett proposing to slash state funding to the school by 30 percent.

Meanwhile, the Shmacked crew thinks this is all hilarious. On their Facebook page, they posted a screenshot of CBS3’s tweet along with the message:

“Adults who take things completely out of context and run stories on company’s whose names they cannot manage to spell correctly ought to mind the generational gap and stay in between their lines rather than try to exploit and magnify a situation simply to scare parents and raise an audience. Big Brother is watching.”

“You know you’re big when they’re doing news stories on you,” observed a commenter. “Haha, as if adults were never kids. I love that crap.”

i’ve known about this project for while seeing that one of the kids is my kid…i didn’t however know about the high school video…i instructed my kid to take it down…he is now traveling around the country shooting these videos and has been approached by MTV and Spike TV…i don’t by any means condone underage drinking or drug use but, if you look at some of the shots, they are in houses, (the kids houses) where are the parents preventing their kids from having parties in the house up there on the main line…i know for a fact parents would go away fro weeks at a time leaving their kids to do whatever….although he is my kid..there was never a party at my house!

One thing is that when you find yourself searching for a education loan you may find that you will want a co-signer. There are many circumstances where this is correct because you might discover that you do not use a past credit score so the mortgage lender will require that you’ve got someone cosign the money for you. Great post.
