Porn Stars Encourage Masturbatory Protest Against Rick Santorum

Hey, I'm OK with softcore. Cinemax is a major donor!

Hey, I'm OK with softcore. That's what Cinemax is, right?

As we’ve been reporting here for a while, former Pennsylvania Senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been pretty open about his extreme distaste for hardcore pornography. He’s gone so far to say he’d make a point to ban it as president under the guise of enforcing obscenity laws. Now, the porn industry is taking matters into their own hands and encouraging a masturbatory  party on May 1. To which everyone’s invited.

Santorum’s fight against porn began last year, when he signed a pledge by an Iowa-based “values” group against pornography and some other stuff. Then-candidate Michele Bachmann signed the pledge, too. He claimed that as president he would “appoint an Attorney General” who would “vigorously enforce” federal obscenity laws, which, he noted, Congress had the foresight to write. Many legal experts have stated it’d be virtually impossible for Santorum to ban what he deemed hardcore pornography. Less public has been both Romney’s and Gingrich’s vows to appoint Attorneys General who would uphold these laws, as well.

Recently, some in the adult entertainment industry have pushed back against Santorum. Hustler publisher Larry Flynt recently said people like Santorum “bring out the bogeyman every chance they get…You will be hard-pressed to find anyone that can point out to you a study that shows harm is caused to anyone exposed to porn materials.”

Others, like Steven Hirsh of Vivid Entertainment have noted it’s ironic Republicans push for “less government and government intruding into our lives,” but “when it comes to moral issues they want government to legislate morality.”

Vivid, now, has joined with comedy site Jest.com to produce a video featuring porn stars ironically railing against Santorum, and urging a mass masturbation party on May 1 to show our mutual distaste for Santorum, and love of porn.

The short web vid features porn actresses Allie Haze, Chastity Lynn and Chanel Preston, the latter of whom was featured, according to the video, in a movie called Beggin For A Peggin’, and an actor named Jerry, who it says was featured in Desperate Housewhores 4, which we assume you’d have to have watched Desperate Housewhores 3 to fully grasp. All actors are at least partially clothed.

Haze asks viewers to “picture a world without pornography.” Jerry responds that people would be left “masturbating to Facebook photos.”

“Or worst of all,” says Haze, “people using just their imaginations.”

A recent study by ExtremeTech found that 30 percent of all web traffic in the world is porn-based.

The porn stars also make the case that pornography essentially relaxes people and makes them less sexually repressed. It does not, they say, create “profound brain changes resulting in negative consequences,” as the former Pennsylvania Senator has claimed. The porn stars say you should vote for President Barack Obama (now there’s an endorsement!) because he would not ban porn.

They end the film urging all those in support to masturbate to Internet porn on May 1. You’ll do so knowing that in other places, all over the country, others will be masturbating, too, for what they believe a good cause. Other than the usual, uh, good cause.
