ON Friday, Wawa’s website got hacked by the Underground Nazi Hacktivist Group – UGNazi. The group posted, as they often do, the ‘Kawaii Hitler’ meme to the site. This is that:

The group said they were fed up with Wawa’s gas prices and threatened to take over the pumps.

@UG, the Twitter feed for one of the group’s leaders, stated Friday afternoon: “How much #havoc would be caused by shutting down all of the Wawa Gas pumps? Love having access to the gas control relay centers .”

Some have claimed UGNazi have no real reasons for their hacks, though the always-reliable Wikipedia has shown a staunch anti-government/authority trend. And, in fact, on the group’s site, there is a link to “targets,” in which their #OpAntiGov notes several companies/groups which were targeted for their support of the Stop Online Privacy Act. The group has hacked into the Washington Military Department, they attacked Ultimate Fighting Championship for its support of SOPA, Google and the Wounded Warrior Project.

PhillyGasPrices.com currently (5:00 pm, 6/11) notes that the Aston, PA Wawa has the eighth-lowest gas prices in the Greater Philly area (Sixth if you’re not a member of a wholesale chain, like Sam’s Club). And if you put in a Philly zip code (I put in 19141), Wawa comes in at 3rd (10901 Bustleron in Northeast Philly) and 15th (7001 E. Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philly).
