Philadelphia controller Alan Butkovitz says less than half the surveillance cameras that’re supposed to be in use by Philadelphia police are working—or, in some cases, even hooked up. The city has spent $17 million on the system. Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison says those numbers are actually old and the city is actually up to 70 percent working. Plus, well, police are going to have those cameras on their faces pretty soon, too. So, does the eye in the sky really even matter?

Mayor Michael Nutter wants more power on Philadelphia Housing Authority matters, and he may get it soon. The Senate voted 49-0 to increase the board from five to nine members, giving the mayor more control over who’s on it. One thing they may not be able to control over there? The sex-capades. PHA head Michael Kelly recently left his post after it was revealed he had an affair with one of his employees. Former head Carl Green was forced out after revelations of sexual harassment (among other things) and the new, interim head of PHA admitted that he, too, has had an affair with someone in the Housing Authority. Meanwhile, some city agency heads can’t even get a date!

With that, Michael Kelly is off to Washington, D.C. to work at that city’s housing authority. The District’s mayor, Vincent Gray, is already defending Kelly’s actions to the public. He told reporters in D.C. that Kelly was a well qualified “sterling individual.”

City Council may pass a resolution today that calls for the Supreme Court to overturn Citizens’ United, the court ruling that has allowed more dark money to flow into politics, turning casino billionaires and, anonymity into political power with never-ending smear campaigns. And while that’s bad and all, not sure why Philly City Council is weighing in, or whether it matters.

The Supremes may have a ruling on Obamacare today.

Former Governor Ed Rendell says President Barack Obama is running a rather poor re-election campaign and needs to start fighting back. Specifically, he needs more Truth Team-esque sessions. “Start calling them out on the lies,” Rendell said. “Fight back. Virtually every state I went into, I would have a session that I would call ‘Truth or fiction.’” Oh, and “wuss.” Rendell said “wuss” when talking about this stuff. He has a new book out.

No one is giving any specifics, but apparently there’s a deal on the state budget.

Another playground arson was reported, though this one, at an elementary playground in North Philadelphia—also Sunday—only caused about $5,000 worth of damage.
