DAILY GRINDER: Nutter Talks Voter ID Education on MSNBC
Mayor Nutter went on Hardball with Chris Matthews last night to talk Voter ID. Specifically, the education and get-out-the-vote effort surrounding the issue now that a judge has held up the law. “My focus, our focus here in the city, city government: Utilizing every resource we can for all voters, is to make sure every eligible voter has the information they need,” he said. “We’re printing up materials. We’re issuing new IDs. We’ll soon be issuing new IDs to all of our public employees, because municipal governments have to put an expiration date on their city employee IDs.” Watch it:

U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz was on an Obama Campaign call yesterday in which she demolished the Republican Party official platform. “The Republican Party platform includes a human life amendment to ban abortion nationwide, without exceptions for rape and incest,” she noted. “Republicans had the opportunity to strip this language out today, but instead voted to affirm it.” She continued: “In a year that has shown us no shortage of Republican candidates trying to prove themselves more extreme than the other on issues affecting women’s health, Republicans have finally hit rock bottom. I don’t have to tell any of you how outrageous Republican Rep. Todd Akin’s comments were this weekend. But unfortunately he is not alone in his extreme and dangerous views. We’re seeing a disastrous and anti-women agenda alive and well throughout the GOP.”
U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey called for Rep. Todd Akin to withdraw from his Senate race yesterday. Entertainingly, Akin did not do that. That’s what happens when God asks you to run for office on the Legitimate Rape platform. You can’t just go against God; I mean, what if Moses had done that, you know?
Fight for Philly protested outside Paul Ryan’s fundraiser dinner at the Union League in Center City Philadelphia last night. They were joined by Occupy Philly and some others, including a guy who was yelling about Paul Ryan being a reptilian humanoid (though he was being ironic, probably). Here are some pictures from the gathering:

A Reddit user has filed a Freedom of Information Act request to find out what, exactly, is in the official White House beer. You read that right: The official White House Beer.
Shock: Pennsylvania wants the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to consider the appeal later than originally planned, because they are very concerned about this issue! In papers filed yesterday, they suggest the appeal take place the week of October 15—about three weeks before the November 6 election. Opponents of the law had originally asked for a September 10 start date.
A West Philly community group has filed a suit against Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, claiming she’s trying to destroy them, and that she assaulted a member with her vehicle’s sideview mirror last year, while driving.
Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Philly trash collector? Check it out.
