This was passed through the PW office this morning.

And, we’re trying to figure out: Is this fundamentalist propaganda or liberal satire? It most obviously could be both. It’s a given that conservatives have often tied legalizing gay marriage to the “slippery slope” of eventually legalizing polygamy and bestiality. As right wing pundit Glenn Beck has said in the past: “The equation is: one guy, one woman equals marriage. That’s the equation. One plus one — one guy, plus one woman — equals marriage. Now, let’s change the second variable. One guy — change the second variable — plus one guy — equals marriage. One woman plus one woman equals marriage. Okay, well how about we change the other variable. Two guys plus one woman equals marriage. One guy plus three women equal marriage.”

Pat Robertston has said gay marriage could eventually lead to ‘bestiality,’ ‘child molestation’ and ‘pedophilia’ becoming legal in the United States.

So, of course the comparisons are there. But is this graphic legitimately right wing? If we were only shown the top, maybe I’d be more inclined to say yes. But who the fuck is finding a gigantic mutant grasshopper with whom to swap tongues? And is anyone worried  that a court would legalize a marriage between a duck and a deer? Don’t get me wrong, the wedding’s reception photo album would be PRICELESS, but keeping track of which deer and ducks were married seems like a job our problem-laden government would not be able to figure out.

Any ideas as to whether this is legitimate or not? Were you sent this on Facebook over the weekend, and was the person sending the graphic a liberal or conservative?
