Monday, May 6

Public Safety Meeting. The Queen Village Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly meeting to discuss public safety in the area.

Clean and Green Committee. The Newbold Neighbors’ Clean and Green Committee will hold its monthly meeting.

Tuesday, May 7

Schuylkill Avenue Community Meeting. There will be a meeting at 25th and Lombard to discuss the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s master plan for Schuylkill Avenue in Southwest Center City.

Zoning Committee Meeting. The Queen Village Neighborhood Association will hold a zooming committee meeting.

Wednesday, May 8

City Council. Philadelphia City Council will look at several ordinances, mostly, as of now, involving real estate taxes relating to the Actual Value Initiative.
10am. City Hall, Room 400. 1 S. Penn Square. phila.gov

AVI Town Hall. The South of South Neighbors Association will hold a town hall meeting with Councilman Kenyatta Johnson to discuss the Actual Value Initiative.
6:30pm. Shiloh Baptist Church, 2040 Christian St. southofsouth.org

Latino Professional Network. The Latino Professionals Network will host an “evening with Philadelphia’s top media and technology company.”
5pm. Ralph’s Café, 43rd floor of the Comcast Building, 17th and JFK

Zoning Meeting. The East Kensington Neighborhood Association will hold a zoning meeting.
7:15pm. Circle of Hope Church, 2007 Frankford Ave. ekna.org

Casino Input Meeting. There will be another casino input meeting, this time at Lincoln Financial Field, where Philly residents can sound off on the potential of a new casino in Philadelphia.

Homeowner’s Association and Town Watch Meeting.
The Fox Chase Homeowner’s and Town Watch will hold a meeting.

Thursday, May 9

City Council. Several bills and resolutions on final passage will be heard. They include: a resolution authorizing hearings relating to the potential sale of Philadelphia Gas Works to a private entity; a resolution to hold hearings on the Philadelphia Housing Authority; a resolution urging Council to oppose payday lending.

Historic Preservation Committee Meeting. The Queen Village Neighborhood Association’s Historic Preservation Committee will hold its monthly meeting.
7pm. Weccacoe Playground Building, 400 Catherine St.

Economic Development Meeting. The South of South Neighbors Association will hold its monthly economic development meeting to discuss ways to stimulate economic growth in the area, as well as marketing the neighborhood and activating vacant properties.

Special Zoning Meeting. The Newbold Neighbors Association will hold a special zoning meeting to discuss the CHOP/Schuylkill Ave. project.

Yorktown Community Organization Block Captains Meeting. The block captains in the Yorktown section of the city will hold presentations on Philly 311 and NLP.

Civic Association Meeting. The Burholme Civic Association will hold a general meeting.
7pm. Methodist Church of the Redeemer, Cottman and Lawndale Ave.

Town Watch. The Tacony/Holmesburg Town Watch will hold its monthly meeting.

Friday, May 10

Nothing…yet. But you know what’s sort of fun? Learning about stuff. Maybe you should spend your Friday doing that. Because one day you’ll be dead and as the sweet peace of nonexistence slowly takes over, you’re not going to wish you had spent one more day at the bar.
