West Philly Drop-in Meditation Class: Examine the Buddhist approach to reducing stress through meditation.

Northeast Philly Take Back Your Neighborhood: Aimed at uniting Northeast Philly residents to take on an array of local issues.

City Council. The Committee on Global Opportunities and Creative/Innovative Economy will meet.

Queens Village General Meeting: This meeting will be a special forum of the Actual Value Initiative, and attendees will learn how to file an Appeal, and if so, how to marshal the evidence necessary to get a hearing.

ESL Class: The Center for Literacy hosts this free, ongoing multi-level class.

7th District Town Hall Meeting: The purpose of these monthly meetings is to allow the public and community leaders to meet with Captain Joseph Zaffino and his staff to voice any concerns regarding issues affecting the community.

Fishtown Community Meeting: A zoning meeting for members of Fishtown community.

Northeast Philly Farm Stand: Jeanes Hospital plays host to a great farmers’ market-style farm stand that features tons of fresh, locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheeses and more. Jeanes Hospital put on the event as a way to promote healthy eating, and products are supplied through local distributor Common Market.

West Philly Financial Institution Founders Reception:
Honors two individuals who have helped improve their local neighborhood.

September 20

NEast Philly Literacy Class: Promoting literacy for adults.

Apps for Philly Transit Hackathon. There will be a Philly transit “hackathon” beginning September 20th and going on all weekend. An event of Code for Philly and Azavea, local computer wizzes will attempt to put together “apps, data visualizations, and other tools and innovations to improve how people move and get around in our city.”
