The Facebook “assassinate Obama” pollWhile I was on the treadmill at the gym this morning, CNN spent 20 minutes talking about the Facebook poll about Barack Obama’s assassination. Which was at least 19 minutes too much. Somebody was being an ass on Facebook; that doesn’t really tell us anything about the state of race relations in this country. |

What I want to know is what the comments on the poll said. That could take *years* to investigate. Sure the creator of the poll is in trouble, but those who made asinine comments (even those who were “just trollin’” are probably going to get a visit from the authorities don’t you think?
Yup. It’s probably not a good idea to even joke about assassinating a president. Even the First Amendment isn’t unlimited.
Sure it’s non-news. But really, *now* we finally notice the trend of hating presidents enough to wish they were murdered or killed? Really? Now?
Becuase, well, it was astonishingly common from 2000-2008. Even in major papers’ political cartoons.
Justin: Anybody who threatened George W. Bush’s life was an evil douchebag. Just so you know: I’m firmly against the death threats and assassination attempts against presidents no matter which party they’re from.
That said:
Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400 per cent from the 3,000 a year or so under President George W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President’s Secret Service.

Assassination? not a very swift thing to speak of. Tends to get ears perked up and people watching your actions.
The problem with Congress and the current Administration, is they are about as useless as a rotten eggs in a cookie factory.
Ok, let’s say the man WAS taken down. Ok, NOW look at who you have as President. Joe Biden….AND VP as Nancy Pelosi.
The line of succession is what is dangerous. BIGTIME.
The power of the peoples voice matters far more than a bullet.
BUT, our founding fathers gave us the RIGHT to a final stand.
So that IF votes and diplomacy no longer work, that we have the RIGHT as a people, as a nation to throw off such government…. and that the people that have the means to do such, have the obligation to do so, for the good of the Nations future.
So, as a gun owner I ask that folks don;t take the chicken *^(*t approach, and do this democratically. Do I like Obama? Heck no, I hate the guy.
BUT— Come 2010 elections, and the next presidential election we can as a nation right the wrongs of the past, and choose a more promising future for OUR country.
