Young, Hip & Cheeky
These girls are so cute I can’t even STAND it.
I love them even though they say I support 4 of the 5 NOTs: dull-colored clothes, flip-flops, layering and chunky bangles (the NOT I don’t endorse: tights with holes). Dang. I’m going to cry into my black maryjane Docs now.
Best (va)jay-jay T-shirt, Ever
How do I not own this Jay McCarroll T-shirt already? Has anyone sewed it onto the back pockets of their jeans yet?
The description is:
“Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate. Double Hate. Loathe.”
Problem is, it doesn’t look like they have extra small.
What a bitch. I love it!
Brooke’s Faboo Femmes Cards

Inside it says: Remember Puberty
Philly artist Brooke Strauss makes these cute, multi-ethnic cards by hand.

How cute is Brooke? Catch her and her cards at the Clark Park Flea Market Saturday 7.12!

Inside of card: or your birthday…we should take HER out for a drink!

Inside of card: Or does your butt still hurt from last year?

Inside of card: …and the occasional moth

Inside of card: I’ll try not to embarrass you too much
The Skinny on Plus-sized Models
This is a one-trick pony kind of game, also an endless loop of sad hilarity.
Go here and click on “Plus sizes.”
Web malfunction? Adding to the weirdness is the claim of a “full-figured bra” (as if) and that the image is beyond the standard photochop-shop-then-polish-like-a-marble. She’s illustrated.
I need to find that ad where the guy’s stomach is illustrated. It’s a normal stomach with photoshop airbrushed muscles on, which I’ve been spotting more and more often.
Also, this model is the lovechild of Christie Brinkley (fuck Peter!) and Debra Messing, no?
Political Blues at Nylon
Over at the Nylon boards, the peanut gallery waged war yesterday after Nylon finally slummed it by giving readers hints about where to find cheapie jeans that make your ass look expensive.
I don’t often think of Carol Hanisch when I’m shopping, but maybe I should.
Someecards.com on Busted Tees
Goofy T-shirts (I admit I own the Lohan/Gawker one) and someecards.com rule, so this is the kind of pro creation I can get behind.
The Busted Tees T-shirt with the someecard below on it is on sale right now (today only) for $13.99. They’re printed on American Apparel t-shirts, and are the source for those Stewart/Colbert T-shirts you saw around a lot back before Obamarama set in.

Navigating the Sephorian Labyrinth
The Other Jaime W. is back with us to share her opinions on makeup matters. Yep, it’s her perspective on deadly serious stuff like undereye concealer and warm versus cool skin tones, so people out there who get all in need of Cymbalta over such things, it’s OK. Those commercials depress the hell out of us, too. Besides, I think I love you.
Jaime’s back today with her 101 (it’s totally A.P. level for someone like me) of Sephora’s bounty. Conveniently, there’s a storefront right down the street from where she “works” so she can zip out and buy a shiny new thing the moment L-Dopa levels plummet mid-afternoon and carrot juice isn’t going to cut it.
The woman lives and breathes makeup. Believe:
Bare Escentuals
Buxom Lips. Not only are these lip glosses infused with antioxidants like Vitamin A and E, but they smell great, come in very wearable shades and even make your lips look bigger! I’m currently in love with Trixie.
Benefit
A few picks from this line.
I mentioned in my last post my love of Erase Paste.
Another recommendation is their Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner. Unlike some cream eye shadows, these last, although some are more pigmented than others. I personally love Skinny Jeans, a soft pewter shade perfect for a quick smoky eye.
Another great product from Benefit is Benetint. I love red lips but can’t stand re-applying all night long. Often, I apply Benetint at the beginning of the night and touch up with a sheer red lip gloss. No mirror needed!
It also now comes with a clear lip gloss attached.
Clarisonic
Want to spend a fortune on a product but save in the long run on facials? Check out the Clarisonic Skincare Brush. I haven’t tried it out myself but I am seeing a lot of buzz about it online. Let me know if you have tried it!
Dior
Every makeup artist’s must have is Diorshow Mascara. If you are looking for over-the-top volume and length, try this one out.
Fresh
Dry lips? Here is the solution. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. It’s the gold standard for high-end lip balms.
Guerlain
Most likely, you haven’t brought a product from this brand in some time. Well, it’s time to take another look. With some of the best packaging and overall quality in the industry, I have a bunch of picks from Guerlain.
With undoubtedly the most beautiful packaging in the industry, KissKiss lipstick offers pigmented, vibrant shades for everyone.
If you are looking for luminous skin and have a gentle touch applying your makeup, try Meteorites Powder for Face. They impart a stunning glow that is never glittery or chalky. My personal favorite is Mythic.
Most likely the most popular bronzer on the planet is Terracotta Bronzing Powder. It comes in several shades.
Kevyn Aucoin
If you can find it in store, you must try the Sensual Skin Enhancer. It’s really a do-it-all for the face. Use it on it’s own as a luminizing concealer, or combine with moisturizer for a glowing foundation.
Lancome
When buying Lancome, it’s all about the lashes! But just remember to use your mascara within 6 months max!
My personal favorite is Hypnose, but in all honesty all their mascaras are great.
Another must are Juicy Tubes if you are looking for super sheer lip gloss with over the top shine.
Laura Mercier
The best tinted moisturizer on the market. Great pigmentation, very good shade range, plus it comes in regular and oil-free versions.
Make Up Forever
This is such a great line and is often missed by the general public. Everything from their foundations to concealers to lashes are highly reviewed on one of my favorite sites, makeupalley.com.
My current fave:
Aqua Eyes is a long lasting eye liner that comes in great shades. Currently I am loving their Bronze Collection!
The rest of my personal faves will be posted in part 2 of this week’s traipse through Sephora. I hope this helps.

Felicia loves Tilly Bloom’s 2D Jewelry
Handmade jewelry doesn’t often come inspired by legendary murders and Victorian ghost stories, but Tilly Bloom is hardly your average bead-stringer.
Her cheeky, detailed illustration jewelry lets you wear your darkest heart right on the outside: either in a literal chest x-ray necklace, or a surrealist teacup brooch filled to the brim with inquisitive eyes.
The lacquered necklaces lie flat against the collarbone–perfect for adorning bare summer styles while reminding you of your own mortality. Death haunts! PW Style caught up with Tilly and quizzed her mercilessly, even though she was in the middle of dragging boxes from one end of Brooklyn to the other.
Stats, please?
I’m Tilly Bloom, 23 years old. I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and have lived in the States for nearly 7 years.
My first trip to Philly was to be fingerprinted for my green card. I also ate a cheesesteak and visited the Mutter Museum, both of which I liked greatly.
Were you educated as an illustrator?
Nope. I’m self-taught in most things.
Your pieces have a Victorian/Edward Gorey-like dark quality. Do you seek inspiration in other artists who parodied Victorian life?
Not particularly, I tend to go straight to the source. The Victorians themselves had a great yet subtle sense of self-parody. Being from Edinburgh I’ve always had a strong sense of the past as slightly odd, dark and peculiar. With things around me such as The Burke and Hare, Greyfriars Bobby and many a Victorian Ghost Stories.
What is your favorite thing to wear in this hot weather?
Sunscreen. But I’m looking forward to my boots and overcoat, I’m not one for summer.
Where do you shop in Brooklyn for clothes and accessories?
I don’t really. I abhor clothes shopping. On Etsy.com I can find lots of splendid local designers, like Miss Bohl, Liinok and Kcoline.
Thanks so much, Tilly. Have fun with the boxes.
No problem, have a merry weekend!
