This week in Philly etsy…

Today in local craftiness: a gift for a lady who loves her dog but also loves art brut, opera mustaches, wedding invitations are gorgeous if you can afford them and Washington, Washing-TON.

It may be a bit too late to get one of these for Mother’s Day, but if you’ve got a dog-lady birthday coming up in the future, send konane a photo of her favorite doggie and 60 bucks and you get a hand-painted scarf that… I can’t believe I’m saying this, but actually looks pretty modern and cool despite having a pet and its name on it. No mention is made of cat or other pet scarf portraits. Personalized dog portrait scarf by konane, $60.

As much as my general dislike of mustaches has been mentioned here before, I was just having a conversation the other night about how much a friend of mine would enjoy having an opera mustache, and when one turned up in my etsy scourings it was too much of a coincidence to pass up. The Barber mustache on a stick, from somethingshidinghere. Being all high-end and cast from an original wooden sculpture and all, it’s $36.

If you happen to be getting married and also happen to have a wealthy relative springing for the wedding, check out these gorgeous poppy-themed wedding invitations from GoldenSilhouette. “Pocket handmade with a vibrant claret and black Japanese paper, mounted onto a claret linen card, trimmed with a satin ribbon; soft white invitation and response cards with two rounded corners and coordinating envelopes,” these things start at $6.20 apiece. But they’re so pretty!

And to complete this “Emily G’s feeling wealthy today” edition of the etsy roundup (nothing below $30!), here is this vintage George Washington-shaped bitters bottle. It needs no explanation as to why it is amazing. Vintage George Washington Centennial Bitters glass bottle from High Street Market, $32.

Booze always tastes better when you’re drinking it straight from Washington’s dome.

Where do you even find something like that Washington bottle?

(I find it really entertaining that my captcha word to type in is ‘combos,’ how long until we have actual ad placement in these things?)
