Philly local Black Friday sales

In honor of every retail employee’s most dreaded day of the year, here’s a Black Friday roundup. But there’s no need to fear, wake up at 4 a.m. or elbow your way through a claustrophobia-inducing mall; these are the smaller-scale, mall-avoiding stuff going on at local places, many of which involve snacks and/or booze. I can almost guarantee nobody will be accidentally trampled to death. I’ll put it after the jump, because boy-oh this is a big one:

Bus Stop, a boutique with some pretty excellent shoes on Fabric Row, is doing this:

Ruffles & Heels BLACK FRIDAY Party, November 27 5:30pm – 8:30pm.

An exclusive shopping weekend event at BUS STOP featuring Letau Designs by Maren Reese, a limited edition collection of Drawstring and Hooded scarves – www.letaudesigns.com

Letau Designs started in 2005. Every new season, Maren forecasts color trends, buys all the fabrics (wool, cashmere, silk, cotton, linen) for her two designs, the Hooded Scarf and the Drawstring Scarf, and cuts all the patterns herself. She uses a local company in Philadelphia for all the sewing. Her goal is to make a Letau scarf a staple in every woman (and man’s) wardrobe.

Join us for a kick-off party on BLACK FRIDAY. Come meet Maren, sip a cocktail and start your holiday shopping by picking up a scarf or two, they make great holiday gifts!

BUS STOP is offering a BLACK FRIDAY discount – save 15% OFF any shoe or boot purchase including the new selection of men’s shoes + An Extra 5% OFF any black or brown shoe or boot!

Bus Stop: 750 S. 4th St

abakus

Honestly, I am not sure about Happy Juice, but it is in fact made of alcohol. Abakus Takeout is a place in Chinatown with an excellent selection of dead-stock sneakers, decor cleverly resembling a Chinese takeout place (think a window display alternating shoes and roast ducks) and a video feature a few days ago on Philly 360.

Abakus Takeout: 227 N 10th St.

Bambi Gallery is having an event from 4-9 p.m.:

It’s a post-holiday party celebrating the closing of Tory Franklin’s show “Serenata and Skirmish” AND it’s Black Friday so isn’t it time to do some Christmas shopping?

…we got ties, bags, has, scarves, jewelry, prints, paintings, lamps, FLASKS… and so much more!!! If you plan on staying all night, bring some yummy thanksgiving leftovers! There will be booze and children are welcome to chocolate chip cookies (if you bake them.. please)

and just so you don’t think we forgot, 10% off everything if you mention FACEBOOK!! (except the dirty coloring books)

Sazz Vintage: open 11-7

Three Sirens, in Old City, will be open 11-7 on Friday:

50% off in-stock Rebecca Minkoff

Arcadia Boutique is having their black-on-black sale from noon to 8:

50% off ALL black items in Arcadia.

25% off everything else in the shop, including accessories.

Not into Black Friday madness? Come in Saturday or Sunday and still receive 25% off all clothing.

I’m just picturing the nitpicky arguments one could get into over whether a dress was black vs. dark gray or whether colorful buttons on a coat make it count as not black, but even so, that’s not a bad deal. I kind of wear a lot of black. It’s because I get things dirty.

Arcadia Boutique: 819 N. 2nd St.

The Pink Ladies at Smak Parlour are having a sale, and I’ll go anywhere they’re giving away Belgian Tripel.

This Black Friday, Nov. 27th, swing into Smak! We are hooked up for holiday and chocked full of goodies and gifts! Black Friday only, we will be giving away gorgeous gloves with any purchase of $40 or more! Plus, enjoy savings of up to 40% off on tons items throughout the shop!

Also, join us Friday from 5- 8pm and celebrate the unveiling of our holiday window spectacular, “Jungle All the Way”, featuring paintings and design works of Philadelphia Artist, Sarah Folger. Meet the Artist and ring in the gift- giving season with us! We’re serving Weyerbacher Winter Ale and Merry Monks Belgian Tripel to spread happy holiday cheer!

Smak Parlour, 219 Market St.

I certainly hope that’s enough stuff to do! If you own/work for a locally owned place and you’re having a Black Friday sale we missed, feel free to list it in the comments.
