What To Do This Weekend
Arcadia is pulling double duty tonight by hosting an art opening and trunk show at their NoLibs boutique. The two designers behind the eco-friendy line Feral Childe will be previewing his Spring/Summer 2010 collections from 4-9pm, while artist Chris Clark will debut his newest Philly show, Layers, from 6-9pm. Expect drinks, snacks, and a set from DJ Dennis Wolffang.

It is once again Second Saturday on Passyunk, and new(-ish) shop Nice Things Handmade will hold an opening for local artist Cory Robinson. From 6-9, view the artists quirky paintings and cartoonish characers painted on the back of old windows.

Also on Saturday, the Amberella Gallery in the piazza is having a solo show with artist Steve Cleff entitled Fluid Beauty: Reflections and Expressions. In his artist statement, Cleff notes the two part show runs opposite of the patriarchal view many artworks are guided with. Instead, “These images are meant not to be literal portraits of the models, but elemental ideas representing the ethereal inner beauty of confident, feminine women.”

On Sunday, take advantage of Sazz Vintage’s moveout. Their relocating warehouses and need to sell bunches beforehand, so everything in the store, open from 11am-4pm, is $5. Scoopup some way-out-there goods on the cheap, but just an FYI—it’s cash only.

This could be you.
Lastly, continuing throughout the weekend will be the Wardrobe Boutique’s silent art auction. Head into the boutique to bid on works by Zia Hilten and Kathryn Moren while supporting female empowerment (through clothes, of course.)
Happy weekend everyone!
