Etsy-delphian of the Day: Girls Can Tell

I have absolutely zero interest in the medical field (to the great dismay of my surgeon mother), but I adore anatomy charts for the way they disambiguate the myriad organs, bones, and muscles that form the human body, each constituent part pinponted and neatly labeled.  For me, detailed diagrams have extraordinary appeal; I can’t help but admire such methodical arrangements of data.  If only my desk drawers were so nicely organized.

Sara Selepouchin, the designer behind Philadelphia hand-screenprinting outfit Girls Can Tell, clearly shares my love of diagrams, marvelously translating the beauty of exploded views into charming kitchen and dining accessories.  Selepouchin decorates oven mitts, place mats, tea towels, and other textiles with her signature sketches – some of traditional anatomical subjects like the brain, heart, and lungs, and others of retro icons, like tandem bicycles, pinball machines, typewriters and this roller skate, chosen in honor of this past weekend’s Philly Roller Girls Warrior Cup.

Those who would couldn’t bear leave such lovely art to the ravages of their accident-prone kitchen will be thrilled to know that Selepouchin prints totes too.  Unfortunately, the ingenious art brut unicorn she unveiled this Friday, is only available on coasters and towels.  But one can hope.
