Embracing My Inner Sex Kitten: Part Two

nicole-7It wasn’t until a few days before my boudoir photo-shoot with local photographer, Colleen Gjefle that I began to worry how I was actually going to pull it off.

Would I be able to strike a sexy pose without giggling? Would I start sweating bullets? What the hell would I do with said sexy photos afterwards? Surely I couldn’t display them around my bedroom, could I?

I simply put my doubts aside knowing this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

nicole-39On the morning of my shoot, I rushed to Chroma Hair Gallery in Old City where Colleen had been kind enough to arrange to have my hair and makeup done.

With the salon still technically closed, I felt like total VIP. My stylist, Karlie was absolutely lovely. We chatted about anything and everything—body hair, Brazilian blowouts, boys, Britney.

We were also immediately on the same page: red lips and loose curls. I wanted to get as close to 1950s glamour as possible. The fake eyelashes completed the look.

Chroma is a great full-service salon with experienced stylists who really love what they do. They accept walk-ins and some nights, they’ll stay open well past 8 p.m for appointments, even as late as midnight on Thursdays. Their prices are also pretty reasonable. I will most certainly keep them in mind the next time I need to be professionally done-up (whenever that is).

nicole-5Anyway, after about an hour and a half of getting sexified, we headed just down the street to Colleen’s studio on the surprisingly stylish “lower level” of Ven and Vaida Jewelry.

Having perused the list of recommended sexy attire on her Web site, I decided to go with Colleen’s suggested button-up shirt/heels/panties ensemble along with my cutest push-up bra and beloved 50s-esque dress. She also has several satin sheets should you want to be draped.

While I immediately felt comfortable with Colleen and was definitely digging my makeover, I clammed up as soon as she started shooting. I was merely a prop. Everything felt forced.

Once she put on some tunes and had me shake off my nerves a bit, I was ready for business.

Unlike the photo-shoots you see in movies, Colleen wasn’t snapping a million pictures a minute or barking commands. Not once was I told to pretend that I was any sort of animal. She was calm and patient. She helped position my body and let me try out different facial expressions. nicole-94

When I got frustrated after realizing that my attempted ‘come hither’ look was actually more a look of annoyance and/or constipation, Colleen gave me a little pep talk.

By the time it was all said and done, I couldn’t believe I had just posed for pictures in my bra. It was sort of a surreal experience—one that I would absolutely recommend other ladies have at some point. I think we could all use a chance to see ourselves in a totally different light (a far more flattering one, of course).

As for what I’m going to be doing with my collection of sexy photos, I’m compiling them into an album to show to my future grandchildren.

And you bet your ass I’m blowing a few up and displaying them in my bedroom.

Why not?

Love, Love Love all the pics! When Colleen/Marla did my shot I feared the “constipation” look along with cheap hooker. Hard to believe with a little direction and a cute push up Colleen was able to achieve Fun and Flirty( with just enough naughty). Great work as always. Nicole seemed to have a fun time and pictures to cherish forever.

You look fantastic in all of the photos. Your hair and makeup (and you) look beautiful. What a treat to be done up and photographed so nicely. The different expressions and your bravery are wonderful in my favorites amongst your photos – http://blogs.philadelphiaweekly.com/style/files/2011/08/Picture-4.png – and I just love all the different facial expressions throughout the boudoir photoshoot. Colleen Gjefle is a great photographer and you would make a great actress.

Now you should try being an artist’s model. I’ll paint you and you can have the painting.
