The collection was created exclusively for H&M by Marni’s Founder and Creative Director, Consuelo Castiglioni, and will be available from March 8, 2012 in around 260 participating stores worldwide and online.
“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints,” said Castiglioni. “As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.”
The women’s collection will consist of vivid colors and bold prints, whether they’re African-inspired or a simple color block. The silhouettes are unmistakable Marni staples, with full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knit, and fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin.
For men, the colors and fabrics are softened for a more relaxed take on menswear. The use of print is subtle, unlike that loud, tacky T-shirt from the Versace line that makes me cringe more and more with every glance I take at it.
The collection also includes jewelry, shoes, bags, and scarves – all sold at affordable H&M prices we’ve all grown to know and love.
