The Not-So-Shocking “Brazilian B”

For years, we’ve all suspected. It just didn’t seem plausible that there was simply something in the water in Brazil that made super-thin amazon women with big, perky mams . One Fashionista reporter dared to quench her suspicions by hanging outside of the tents at Sal Paulo Fashion Week and asking the models about their breasts, a question completely taboo and utterly rude in the States but apparently no big deal in Brazil. The result? Almost every model answered “Yes” they and many of their friends have had what is referred to as the “Brazilian B,” a small implant surgery.
The most interesting thing was that Brazilian woman feel no shame about the surgery, often posting the results on their Facebooks and bragging to their friends about it. Whereas, here in the states, it is something that causes women much shame. It’s not enough that we expect our tiny, thin woman to have huge breasts and our 50 year olds to look 20, they’ve got to do it naturally!
What do you think? Is surgery something to hide or to flaunt? Which scenario makes for a healthier vision of women, a country that looks down on surgery or a country that celebrates it?
