Tomorrow: Weekday Workshop/Mixer at Girard Supply Co.
While you could just head to the nearest bar after work tomorrow and pound a few discounted cocktails as usual, why not opt for a slightly more productive happy hour?
From 5:30-7:30 p.m., Brewerytown’s new seasonal pop-up garden store, Girard Supply Co. (2710 W. Girard Ave.) is inviting locals to come out and enjoy an evening of creativity and conversation during a “Cement Mixer.”
In addition to beer and snacks, the store will be providing all the supplies necessary for you to create a stylish cement planter, including the molds and cement. And since you’re obviously going to need something to put in the pot once you’re done, be sure to peruse their beautiful selection of plants as well as three entire greenhouses full of the most interesting varieties of herbs you can imagine.
Should your pot wind up looking like crap or you suddenly feel inspired to create a bountiful green oasis of your own, don’t worry—they also have a collection of vintage decorative objects and garden décor, including the stunning modular, “environmentally-attuned” products of the Philly-based company, SHIFT_DESIGN.
The workshop is only $5 and open to green thumbs and wannabe urban gardeners alike. To ensure a spot, RSVP to girardsupplyco@gmail.com.
