While BUS STOP may be known for their unique selection of designer shoes from hard-to-find international labels, what’s a cool pair of shoes without an equally cool bag?
Tomorrow night, the Fabric Row boutique (727 S. Fourth St.) will be unveiling Philly-based designer and artist Conrad Booker’s exclusive new handbag collection HARDWEAR with a one-night-only reception from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
You may remember that last year, Booker—who has also has 20 years of experience working as an architect and interior designer in the city—decorated the façade of several local boutiques with a rather dazzling art instillation comprised of thousands of butterflies created from recycled fashion magazines and soda cans. So yeah, he’s a man of many talents.
Much like Booker’s art, the collection is marked by bold shapes, unexpected detailing and unusual materials. More specifically, each piece features an element taken from a hardware store (hence the name), which is applied in a surprisingly stylish way. Even better, all of his bags are handcrafted right here in Philly.
I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly intrigued.
