I really don’t have a strong opinion when it comes to men’s fashion. As long as there isn’t a seagull anywhere on it, I say, just do you. Romantically speaking however, I very much prefer a strictly t-shirt and jeans kinda guy.
Inspired by Ben Franklin’s list of 13 virtues, which he devised at the age of 20 and documented in his autobiography, the collection currently includes four different tees/virtues in either light navy, white, cranberry or heather grey. The featured virtues you have to choose from are as followed:
No. 6. Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful.
No. 2 Silence: Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversations.
No. 4 Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.
No. 7 Sincerity: Use no harmful deceit; think innocently and justly, and if you speak, speak accordingly.
Given that the Founding Father’s list also tackles Temperance (“Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation”), Cleanliness (“Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation”) and even Chastity (“Rarely use venery but for health or offspring”), I think it’s safe to say that Duke & Winston founder, Seun Olubodun won’t be expanding the collection to include all 13 virtues any time soon.
Still, I’m not sure why he left out Frugality (“Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; waste nothing”), Tranquillity (“Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable”) and Moderation (“Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve”).
Here’s hoping they add these to the selection. Even better: if they made them for women!
As for where you can get your hands on one of these oh-so wise tees, all are available now both online and at Duke & Winston’s flagship store in NoLibs (633 N. Second St.).
