Just Listen: Daft Punk’s New Record Imagined

Our friend in music and dancefloor conjurer, DJ Apt One (Michael Fichman), heard these cooky little snippets of the forthcoming Daft Punk record, Random Access Memories (supposedly due May 21st), and was like ‘What!? That’s amazing but I want more.’ Rather than wait, he and a couple must-respected friends from Pittsburgh got together in the studio and cooked up a four-and-a-half minute riff on the seven-second clip preview the world’s heard.

He got his guitar-slaying friend, James Hart from the Harlan Twins, to play bass, electric guitar and electric piano, while his homeboy Nice Rec (Peter Mudge), provided some extra production and percussion. Nice Rec’s worked with the likes of Wiz Khalifa. Meanwhile, Fichman himself provided: “Arrangement, Drum Programming, Synthesizers, Vocals, Additional Guitar, Additional Bass Guitar, Clavinet, Electric Piano, Acoustic Piano.” DIOS MIO!
