Tweed Ride: not intolerable
As much as I am generally weary of all things reminiscent of
A. self-consciously wacky flash mobs
B. self-consciously wacky facial hair
I have been charmed against my better judgment by the pictures from this past weekend’s Tweed Ride. Well done, folks, you looked dapper indeed.
Bunch more pictures by Jenelle Rittenhouse over at Philebrity.
When riding your bike is not enough
For that special bike lady in your life. I kind of dig the simplicity of the lock necklace above and the bike cutout; both are from Philly etsy maker Maggie Wood.
Flash Panty
This is one of those Japanese sites that tries to make a funny in English that ends up with native English speakers a little confused. The other two products on this site are the “Safe at Home” lock and the “Ankle Sam” pants clips, so I think the “Flash Panty” bicycle seat cover is maybe trying to make a pun on “flash in the pan?” Or maybe they’re talking about girls who ride bikes in miniskirts (a friend of mine in college used to get honked at A LOT for doing this).
This is not to say that I know a second language aside from “¿Donde está la bibliotéca?” “¡La bibliotéca está allá!” “¿Y hay un jirafe en la bibliotéca?” “¡Si, hay muchos jirafes en la bibliotéca!” and the single term “Das ist ein Fenster!” in German, and anyway puns are like multivariable calculus-level English so I don’t really have a leg to stand on here.
Anyway, the oddly named Flash Panties are bicycle seat covers that come in dozens of different patterns, some of which are reminiscent of a ’90s swim team, but some of which are very cute. They range from 1260 to 1470 yen, that’s $13.25 to $15.50, and are worth checking out.
