Yesterday I was in love with basically everything that Glamour put up on it’s Twitter feed. There was the write up on whether or not men are drawn to women that are hurt, as in wrapped in casts. It sort of makes sense, the trip to the ER does make you look like the ultimate damsel in distress. I guess it’s the same idea as when you carry a lot of things and sometimes men offer to help…but mostly just stare. Wait, maybe that’s just me?

Another thing that Glamour put up is the commentary from the Reporter that got to talk to Rachel Zoe for Glamour’s September issue.

Lastly, Glamour wants to know if Toddler Beauty Pageants make you upset. They make me really sad, actually. Apparently 96% of those that took the poll feel the same way as I write this entry. I’m glad that others see things that way, because the Beauty Pageants to me seem forced and more of what the mother wants to do than the little girl involved. When I’d kick and scream at ballet, my mom let me quit. Sometimes I do wish I was a prima ballerina, but I’m glad I was never forced to do anything like the Toddler Beauty Pageants.

Courtesy of Harper's Bazzar

Vera Wang and Oscar De La Renta will be making stops on Sesame Street in honor of Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary. A couple other designers found their way to Sesame Street, including Diane VonFurstenberg. The pictures can be found in Harper’s Bazzar.

Lastly, the blog Clumps of Mascara is worth a look. It features videos on how to apply makeup as well as product reviews.

Someone smack me: after 48 straight hours of humming this 80’s gem, I need some help. So what if I was three when this song was on the radio? I heard it on Saturday, and (–no thanks to my boyfriend!) it’s been lodged in my little brain like something cute and furry, hibernating, ever since.

After attempting to sing this in the shower, I realized that… I, um, don’t know all the lyrics. So, like any tune-savvy girl scout, I found the video on youtube (because, sadly, I don’t own this musical masterpiece…) and then watched the video 5 times straight.

Watching this again and again has NOTHING to with memorizing lyrics at this point; it has EVERYTHING to do with being hypnotized by her totally insane hair and makeup in the video. I think I’m high from the waves of Aqua Net wofting around her crown of wavy polymer hairpieces as she’s shakin’ it in her shoulder pads. Have I mentioned I think her eyeshadow resembles every nerf gun and pool toy I owned in elementary school? Jesus, I need some sunglasses: this woman is entirely out of control in her rainbowbrite get-up and it’s not pretty.

Good lord, Whitney– I don’t care about the coke: it’s this that makes me want to shake you… and then hug you… because you totally rule.

Yeah, I’d dance with you.

Famed Shoe Designer Jimmy Choo is collaborating with H&M! This article from the Wall Street Journal gives more details, but all you really need to know is the shoes will be avaliable in the fall. Ahh!

All this rain doesn’t make for such fun times with the flat iron. I’ve been trying to figure out how to create the perfect curls for the past few days, and while I’ve had some ok waves, Marie Claire explains how to get full out ringlets. They even have a video if you’re a visual learner like I am…or if you just like videos.

The Metro’s style blogger speaks out against 80’s trends that she thinks should never come back. Reading it made me remember how protective some little boys were over their rat tails in the early 90’s. I think it was a hard thing to let go of for some. Why did that ever seem like a good idea? ‘Mommy…I want a rat tail!’ What?

The Metro also did a list of things that Organic Beauty Product Company founder Yael Alkalay likes. It’s like a Hippie Oprah list. Nice.

Whatever, you already have it in your fridge, so what do you have to lose?

Perhaps this is Politically Incorrect, but it’s still entertaining. In addition to showing you the way to coloring bliss, The Frisky tells you what you should wear during fashion week in cities around the world that aren’t New York, Paris or London.

The Frisky also points out recent fashion trends that mirror what was popular during the Great Depression. However, these aren’t frocks that look like they were pulled out of the Grapes of Wrath or inspired by those depressing Dust Bowl pictures. These are cute outfits with strong lines and lots of structure.

Like any good geek, this past Friday I went to see the new Star Trek movie; I really enjoyed it! I’m not going to spoil the plot if you’re planning to go see it, but I will say there was quite a bit of polyester involved.

The nerd in me would like to give props to the costuming department for updating the Starfleet uniform so nicely into the 21st century… then the rest of me tells the nerdy part to shut up and to just enjoy how damn good Zachary Quinto looks in it– even if he has pointy ears.

But really, trekkies –for better or worse– are some of the most observent people on the planet. The fans who re-create the props and costumes are so detail oriented they put the masses to shame. So, I wonder how they would feel if they noticed a few pieces for the Spring/Summer 2009 runway that appear to have some old school Trek inspired pieces?

Key elements in the retro space-style seem to be high necklines, interesting texture and primary colors.

Michael Kors - Spring 2009

Men's Versace Spring-Summer 2009

Not to mention… the new cast is hot! Check out Zoe Saldana, the new Lieutenant Uhura, rocking the premiere in this Prabal Gurung get-up.

And the new Spock, Zachary Quinto, graced GQ magazine last month, modeling raincoats.

It looks like the New York Times finally realized that Philly is a city worth spending time in. They ran a piece on what to do with ‘36 Hours in Philadelphia.’ They picked some good spots, including Silk City Diner and The Magic Gardens on South Street. If you think they’ve missed something, you can comment and let them know what they forgot.

I’ve seen this before, but Philly is once again on the list of top 10 cities for new grads.

New York Magazine has predicted the trends for fall. 80’s Velvet and Lady Gaga looks? Do you think the idea of not wearing pants will go mainstream?

It looks like Crocs are no longer doing well. Even though I was never a fan, it’s a little sad. What will suburban moms working in the garden wear now?

Also, here are some pictures taken at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, or the “Nerd Prom.” Honestly, I just wish I was nerdy enough to be invited.

People.com compiled a slideshow of shoes that they think are outrageous. I’m just in love with each and every pair. If anyone out there wants to give me a pair of any of the shoes pictures, please feel free. Aso check out People.com’s home page, the are set to release the names on their 100 Most Beautiful People list.

David Beckham is launching his own style collection! It looks like the collection will be on the more sporty side than the metro sexual side, as the collection is a joint venture with Adidas.

Jezebel posted pages from a 1972 Sears Catalogue. Do any of the pieces in your closet look like these?

You can also head over to BlueFly.com for some more winter accessory sales. Or, just check out my favorite part of the site, the pages dedicated to Gossip Girl.

Speaking of Gossip, Lindsay Lohan has a video on eHarmony. Sort of. It’s weird. Watch it.

Also, there’s a video of fashion predictions from the 1930s regarding the year 2000. I’m just hoping it’s not staged like that time Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. I mean….what?
