What To Do This Weekend
What isn’t there to do this weekend? Happy fall and happy First Friday!
//Kujo Lynx @ Bambi in the Piazza
Deep in the woods, near her aunt’s trailer, Kujo Lynx was born on Halloween, back when shape shifting didn’t demand a ten strip, just a few coyotes, a couple raccoons, and some moon-powered black lights. Some might regard Kujo Lynx as a nightshade of sorts; others just call her a friendship bracelet factory with a concentration in shamanism. Using reanimated rawhide and a million other multihued and recycled materials to describe a wilderness mottled by the vogue and the beautiful, Kujo Lynx is a taxidermist for the fiber optic generation. To put is simply, the most important thing to remember about Kujo Lynx; all the raves in the universe are just a pimple on her ass.
Well, when you put it like that… sheesh! Bambi gallery is showing works by Kujo Lynx! Join them on first Friday be prepared for a psychedelic shamanistic implosion of paintings drawings and installations.
Ed. note: Wear white– it’s a black light show!
The party goes down at The Piazza on 1001 North. 2nd St / #7 on Friday. More deets here.
//Fall Festival at Midtown Village This event, next to OutFest, is the single loudest celebration on my street all year… but nonetheless, a great party. It’s the day each fall where the (affectionately nicknamed) Gayborhood is taken over by karaoke, art, sumo wrestling (?!), face painting, a moon bounce and a performance by The School of Rock. The festival, which is all ages, starts on 13th and Sansom and is rain or shine. 12noon – 8pm; hope to see you there!
