Head of State: Inspired by Aretha, I Scoured the Web to find Fabulous Hats and Hair Pieces so that You (yes, you!) Can Rock One, Too!

No doubt about it, Michelle Obama effortlessy shone as the Belle of the Inaugural Ball in that gorgeous snow white gown by designer Jason Wu.

And while the hype was definitely justified, I can’t help but give the fashion pick of the day to Aretha Franklin stepping up to sing at the Inauguration ceremony donning that beautiful wool pillbox hat detailed with an enormous rhinestone trimmed bow.

It may have been the way its shape gave a nod to the late 1950s while still maintaining a modern and fashionable relevance.  It may have been the right amount of glitz paired with the subtle gray.  However, I’m willing to bet that the oversized bow is what made Aretha’s hat truly SASSY.

I can only assume that anyone who saw that hat was immediately inspired by its class and undeniable fabulousness. I was simply left wanting MORE of it! And so, inspired by Aretha, I scoured the internet and found some bold hats and hair pieces that you can buy and show off yourself!

The structured wool hat was very popular among women in the 1950s and 1960s.  Its feminine simplicity makes it an easy accessory to add to any look that could use a little extra.
