Gotta Get Away

Happy Hump Day!  This morning Marie Claire’s got links to the 25 beauty products that will change your life. While we haven’t tried them all, we can’t argue with the benefits of the Chanel Nude Blush or Mac’s Bronzer just to bring a glow to your face during the drab winter months, the Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer which helps us look like we had a nice weekend getaway to Cancun even if we sadly haven’t taken out our passports, as well as Olay’s Body Wash with exfoliating ribbons. With such a moisturizing body wash, you can even skip a post-shower moisturizer. Nice. Marie Claire also posted tips on how to care for your skin depending on your climate.

Lilliana Vazquez, who contributes to NBC10 posted some  cute and affordable sweaters on her blog – The Cheap Chica’s Guide To Style. Glamour magazine is also looking out for your wallet, with their list of shoes for $50 and under.

Philadelphia Magazine is on the lookout in Rittenhouse Square, spotting some styles that they love as well as a type of yoga we hadn’t seen yet. It’s called Slackline Yoga, and it’s done on a tightrope. Philadelphia Magazine spotted Jennifer Nehila practicing Slackline and did a writeup and shot video. Just as Jennifer mentions, YogaSlackers.com gives more information on the practice as a whole.

Lastly, we’re not sure how the #4 resturant on this ESPN list earned it spot, but we’re cracking up.

Over The Top

slide_3074_44483_largeWith Halloween right around the corner, we’re so glad that The Huffington Post has gathered pictures of inappropriate costumes. We’re not offended by much, but some of these costumes are a little surprising to say the least.

Glamour has their eye on Paris Hilton’s most recent up-do. What do you think?

Chanel seems to be into do it yourself manicures this season, with lines of green and now purple nail polish, as highlighted by Nylon Magazine.

Philadelphia Magazine posted a slideshow from Utley All-Star Animals, a night of shopping at Boyds which benefits the Pennsylvania SPCA.

Glamour highlighted these products back in February. On a dreary day like today when you might not want to wear wellies, we’re thinking they’re not such a bad idea. First off there are heel covers from Sole Mates that cover your heels, to prevent you from sinking into the grass.

According to their website, “The patented design of the SoleMates High Heeler™ is mechanically engineered to fit snugly on most heels and yet the flexible material grips securely without damaging the heel or compromising the aesthetics of the shoe.” Since we sometimes sink into the grass, we’re willing to give these babies a try.

Also highlighted in Glamour were Swims galoshes which are the chicest rain shoes we’ve ever seen. The rest of their line can be found on the swims website, which has a gorgeous layout and even tells you how many rain days cities from around the world have. While Philly isn’t included, New York is with 95 days of rain a year! It’s a far cry from Las Vegas with 18 rain days a year. Geeze.

Lastly, a model from the Ralph Lauren campaign was allegedly fired for weighing in at 120 pounds. At 5′10″ apparently that’s too much. Perhaps her firing paired with attention being paid to plus size models will lead to changes in the fashion industry?

Karate Kid

Marie Claire recently posted a slideshow of pictures of their November cover girl, Hillary Swank. The Next Karate Kid sure looks glamorous and we like it.

Rachel Zoe is going to be on QVC selling her new accessories line! Just don’t be a creep and wait for her outside their West Chester studio. Just sayin’.

Katy Perry was seen in Paris wearing the French designer that’s making a comeback – Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. If the Francais has you tongue-tied, just call it JC /DC for short – sort of like how Yves Saint Laurent is also known by it’s acronym, YSL.

Castelbajac’s designs are full of Disney and Sesame street designs like the one seen on Katy. M.I.A has also been rocking their stuff post-baby, and we think Kayne would wear JC/DC if he wasn’t busy cancelling tours. Either way, this designer’s pop art creations are set for a big comeback.

Also at Paris’ fashion week were Chanel lovers Lily Allen and Rihanna. Chanel isn’t making a comeback since this French classic never went anywhere, but it’s set to be bigger than ever with Coco Before Chanel telling the story of the woman behind the brand.

A former consumer reporter has launched a new website called Lush Click. It’s cute. It doesn’t have an extraordinary amount of content since it just launched, but it has great potential. Mosey on over when you get the chance.

Lastly, Daily Candy has posted pictures of the Haunted Poe tour.

Keepin’ It Real

Keeping with the theme of keeping it real…as far as representation of women in magazines, that is…German magazine Brigitte is banning models from the pages of it’s bimonthly. Maybe things are really starting to shift.

Glamour.com has compiled a list of five things that you can thank Coco Chanel for, including the new film, Coco Before Chanel, set to be released at the Ritz Five later this week.

Coco would probably be a fan of what I Heart Daily highlights today – rings with lockets. A bit different with just the right amount of je ne sais quoi that Coco would approve of.

Keeping with the Chanel theme, the New York Times highlights Chanel’s show as well as provides commentary.

Lastly, Clutch points the way to beauty sets priced lower than the individual items. The Dior set in particular caught our eye, as we love the mascara, and the beauty set which includes mascara and shadow comes at the same price as it usually is to just get the mascara. Nice.
