For the first installment of PW Style’s 2012 Gift Guide, I figured I’d start with the fellas for a change. Most of the featured items are local with a few non-local items thrown into the mix for the sake of convenience (you know you’re going to probably wait till the last minute anyway).
I tried to take dudes of all types and ages into consideration, so whether you’re shopping for sports-loving father, your rocker boyfriend or you nerdy brother, here’s a few affordable gifts to consider.
And the post-Thanksgiving sales continue…
Concrete Polish: Splurge on one of designer Angela Monaco’s stunning jewels before midnight and you’ll save 15 percent off. This deal can be redeemed online (code: TURKEYLOVE) or in-store. Either way, be sure to RSVP to the sale’s Facebook event page as you will then receive a special gift with your purchase in addition to free gift-wrapping. (716 N. Third St.)
South Moon Under: Shop online and take 20 percent off everything using the code CYBER20. You’ll also receive free shipping.
Adorn Boutique: Till midnight tonight, Sarah Lewis is offering 30 percent off her entire selection of jewelry. You can either stop by her tiny Fishtown treasure chest or shop online (code: cybermonday). (1314 Frankford Ave.)
Express: Save 40 percent on everything site-wide and receive free shipping.
Kembrel: Receive 40 percent off either in stores or online with the checkout code KEMCYBER. (1822 Chestnut St. & 1219 Locust St.)
Urban Outfitters: Today is the final day the retailer will be slashing prices on hundreds of items in stores and online. The deals vary.
Victoria’s Secret: Today only, receive two “Secret Rewards Cards” with any online purchase of $10 or more. Just enter the code MONDAY at checkout and the secret bonus reward will be added to your order once the code is applied.
Steve Madden: Get free shipping and 30 percent off site-wide with the code HOLIDAYS30.
Sephora: For a limited time, you can score a free mystery gift with any online purchase with the code UNDERWRAPS. This gift is a little black bag containing a secret assortment of their favorite holiday beauty items.

Joan Shepp: Today is your last day to save 20 percent on any of Shepp’s designer coats. And while I would highly recommend going to her fabulous Rittenhouse boutique, you can shop online (code: COATS20). (1616 Walnut St.)
Paper Source: In addition to select sales on an array of holiday gifts, including 25 percent off custom stamps, online shoppers who spend over $75 will get free shipping today only using the code THANKS75 at checkout.
Charlotte Russe: In addition to taking 20-50 percent off everything sitewide, shoppers who spend $50 or more will receive $10 off their purchase and free shipping.
Macy’s: Enjoy various deals on items site-wide including an extra 25-40 percent off clearance items. At checkout, you’ll receive an additional 15 percent off your purchase using the promo code CYBER as well as free shipping if your order is $75 or more.
Personally, I think it’s disgusting that we devote an entire day to honor Christopher Columbus. But since there’s nothing we can really do about it, you might as well take advantage of the holiday sales. You know, just like how Columbus took advantage of the original inhabitors of this country.
H&M: Get 20 percent off one item of your choice using this coupon. If you subscribe to their emails, check your inbox for their Columbus Day email, then print out to receive an extra 50 percent off already reduced items.
Nicole Miller: Take 20 percent off pre-fall styles both online and in stores.
Urban Outfitters: Take an additional 30 percent off clearance items, which there’s quite a bit of both online and in-store since their “Drop It Like It’s Fall Sale” is going on now.
Express: Save 30 percent on all outerwear as well accessories for men and women.
Macy’s: Get 20-75 percent off storewide on regular priced items. Use your Macy’s card to score an additional 15 or 20 percent off or cut/print their “Wow! Pass” to receive an extra 15 percent off all sale and clearance items (see weekly ads).

Holy crappers! There’s so many Fourth of July and mid-season sales going on that you’d be stupid not to go shopping this weekend. As promised, I’ve added several more to the earlier list.
So here’s the complete motherload:
Third Street Habit: Right now, the Old City boutique is making room for new inventory, marking down prices on a plethora of amazing designer dresses, tops, denim, shoes and accessories. This includes Isabel Marant’s entire Etoile collection, which has been marked way, way down. Stop by this Friday or Saturday and you’ll also score an extra 10 percent off all sale merch. (153 N. 3rd St.)
Zara’s: Both in stores and online, you’ll find prices slashed on all the hottest summer trends (florals, neon, high-low hems and lace) as well as dresses, blouses and blazers.
Three Sirens Boutique: Take 15-30 percent off store wide June 29-July 4. This Saturday and Sunday (12-4 p.m.), you’ll also have a chance to get first dibs on some cute summer duds as they’ll be adding even more goodies to their clearance section.
Macy’s: Although too expansive to list each and every deal, Macy’s annual Fourth of July Sale does entail extra savings on select swimwear (50 percent), home goods (10 percent) and shoes (20-50 percent). Shop online and receive an extra 15 percent off your purchase and free shipping as well as an exclusive 25 percent off clearance. Ends: June 30.
Forever 21: Buy a select sale item and receive a second sale item for free. We’re talking some pretty cute summer dresses for less than $15. This sweet-ass deal ends Sunday.
Express: For their end of season sale, the retailer not only has select fashions for up to 70 percent off, but right now, they’re taking an extra 30 percent off those already reduced clearance items.
Vamp Boutique: Now through Sunday, buy any two dresses and you’ll receive 25 percent off your entire purchase storewide. And considering the Manayunk boutique’s selection super trendy and feminine summer dresses, finding two to your likely shouldn’t be too hard. (4231 Main St.)
West Elm: Besides some rather impressive storewide markdowns, now through Monday, take up to 40 percent off outdoor furniture and 15 percent off mirrors and wall décor.
Old Navy: Now through Sunday, prices will be slashed on hundreds of summer styles both online and in stores, including their signature “Flag Tees,” which start at just $4. Online you can also save an additional 15 percent off your purchase (promo code: ONSAVEBIG).
Bath & Body Works Semi Annual Sale: 75 percent off select items. This includes $3 soaps and sanitizers, $2 select home fragrance and up to 50 percent off select candles, gift sets and seasonal clearance. Lotions and shower gels from their “Signature Collection” are also ranging anywhere from $2.75-$4.
H&M: Select tanks, tees, skirts, dresses and shorts are now up to 75 percent off.
South Moon Under: For their biggest sale of the year, all summer items are now 50 percent off both in stores and online. There’s even a large selection of summer fashions, accessories, housewares and gift items now 70 percent off.
Lacoste Semi-Annual Sale: Get up to 50 percent off select styles and free shipping.
Urban Outfitters: They’re not having just any sale. Oh no. Urban is throwing a “Big Ass Summer Sale,” slashing prices on a massive portion of their merchandise both in stores and online. The retailer is also having a “Bag Sale” with several purses, clutches and backpacks starting at $19.99.
Denim Habit: Tomorrow only, the store will be hosting a storewide pre-Fourth of July Flash Sale with their entire selection of designer denim ranging from 25-50 percent off.
Banana Republic: Save up to 40 percent on select mens’ and women’s fashions both in stores and online. Now through June 27, the retailer is also offering an extra 20 percent off already reduced styles online (using the code: BRSALE20).
GAP: Select fashions now 50 percent off, both in stores and online.

If you don’t already know, Father’s Day is Sun., June 17. That gives you less than two weeks to find your papa an awesome gift.
And while dads are generally much easier to please than moms, let’s face it—most of us take advantage of that, settling on lame last minute Father’s Day gifts, year after year. Personally, I know my dad has at least 50 different Phillies shirts at this point.
So to help you out, we’ve tracked down a slew of cool and practical items your father might like, such as these…

As an avid reader of our blog, you are more-than well aware that bright, bold colors are the cat’s meow this spring. Now, fashion gurus and style website moguls alike are preaching a new trend that will allow you to wear your favorite bright colors all at the same time. Enter: Color blocking.
The trick to mastering color blocking is to resort to something we learned in 2nd grade art class, the color wheel.
Color blocking is when an outfit contains blocks of color (duh), usually involving contrasting hues or different shades of the same color. The most basic rule of thumb to follow is to avoid colors on the exact opposite sides of the wheel. Instead, you want to follow the rule of two-thirds. The rule of two-thirds is fool proof, having you create an equilateral triangle.
After making your triangle, use two of those three colors and pick a third color from outside of your triangle. For example, an outfit comprised of pieces that are shades of orange, green and blue would be fashionably fierce. Check out how some of our favorite designers show off their color blocking talents.
