Heavens To Etsy: dgordon

Sometimes when shopping, I just like something because it’s pretty. This was the case with dgordon’s work. I think this plate is gorgeous and though it’s listed under “soap dish,” I’d probably use it in a less-likely-to-get-messed-up setting. Available for $20. (Bonus: dgordon insures all pieces over $15 to protect buyers against shipping damage.)

Design Within (Closer) Reach

Air Chair: Now $112 to $140.

Forever on the hunt for good sales at Design Within Reach, which bring lusty objects of home design down to mere splurge status from stratospheric WTF status. Sometimes I want to buy the crappy post-seasonal stuff on sale just because it’s something I can actually afford there.

Flying Vee Shelves, now $79

Tripod Floor Lamp, $207 base, $108 shade.

Craigslist: One Man’s Trash…

Craigslist Finds

Craigslist is a crapshoot; scammers abound and clicking on product titles reveals a different sort of item entirely.

This is not shabby chic.

And these are not neutral.

But sometimes your wounded heart takes a shot at love and clicks on the hundredth “Danish Modern” furniture listing. AND YOU HIT THE MOTHERLOAD!

Although the listing has since disappeared into Craigslist’s abyss of used Ikea, I remember it clearly: “Danish Furniture Auction”. It lead to this site for Regal Auction Services, LLC. and, specifically, an upcoming auction for amazing Danish Modern furniture pieces.

On August 30th, these (among others) will be up for grabs:

One quick note before your heart swells with anticipation:

You’ll have to make a bid over the phone or make the trek to New Hampshire to attend the auction. Hey, it’s Craigslist. There’s always a catch!

My Big Fat eBay Life

When I picture a “dowry,” this image comes to mind. I wish it full of gold ornaments and 1300TC sheets.

Sadly, the only thing my husband would inherit is student loans.

When I re-upholster, it’s gonna be with this. Chinoiserie much? I do.

Holy shit!

I know there’s just too much birds, but this is amazing, old detailed embroidery, so it’s OK.
