What To Do This Weekend

Champagne Saturdays

Each weekend through Labor Day, Arcadia is going to be highlighting one of their eco-friendly designers, offering customers an extra 20 percent off everything by said designer (in addition to complimentary bubbly) at their Rittenhouse location. The featured designer this weekend is iosselliani jewelry. As you see from the above photo, the Italian designers are known for their unique statement pieces (including some rather badass cocktail rings) which I’d describe as edgy-Bohemian. Next weekend, shoppers can look forward to local designer, Lauren Moffatt whose feminine, vintage-chic duds are absolutely to die for. Saturday, 10am-6pm. Free. @ Arcadia Boutique (265 S. 20th St.)

BIG ART SHOW

For those who aren’t familiar with this event, basically it’s just your average art show, except that it’s really more like a party with artwork. The free event is open to any and all local artists, each of whom will get 5-6 feet of space to sell as much work as they can fit. While perusing the inevitably eclectic mix of artwork, guests can enjoy pleasant conversation over a few beers and rock out to the live tunes of four local bands. Saturday, 7pm. Free. @ Pterodactyl (3237 Amber St. 5th Fl.)

Girl’s Night Out “Corsets & Bustiers”

For their first ever trunk show, Lovely’s Lingerie is hosting a naughtier version of your average “Girl’s Night Out” event. In addition to an array of sexy, high-end corsets and bustiers, ladies will be treated to cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and best of all, FREE POLE DANCING LESSONS. Though the new South Philly boutique caters specifically to the modern figured-woman, ladies of all sizes are welcome to attend. Saturday, 6-9pm. Free. @ Lovely’s Lingere Boutique (234A Moore St.)

“Top 10” Award Celebration

To celebrate their nomination as one of the best salons/spas in the state by VSN TV, Lakshmi Hair Studio will be joining their ten other fellow nominees for a benefit bash. Each of the salons were judged according to four main criteria: the look and feel of their location, the quality of their work, community engagement and their commitment to the trade. Two other Philly-based salons also made the cut: Richard Nicholas Hair Studio and VOG Salon. Tickets are available either at Lakshmi or online and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Pink Hair for Hope Foundation. Sunday, 8pm. $20. @ Whisper Club (1712 Walnut St.)
