Kim Kardashian: I’m taking this personally!
Don’t be fooled: Kim’s hair isn’t being blown back as she walks, its from my gigantic sighs of disappointment.
Dear Kim Kardashian,
You’re gorgeous; we both know this. When I was trying to shed some college weight, I may have even had a picture of you on my refrigerator as a reminder of what could be… but that’s not the point of this letter. As someone who had long dark hair from elementary – high school, I totally loved that you kept your raven locks. I thought you looked beautiful with the long waves and like you channeled Audrey Hepburn with the shorter cut.

So, I get that you want to try something new… but blonde?! You look alright (it’s certainly not unflattering).. but I’m sooo disappointed that you blend in with Lindsay Ho-han and all the other golden-tressed trollops that grace the US Weekly’s I see in line at the grocery store.
Blonde may be blown up in the Hills, but you are so much cooler than that– c’mon!
Please go back to your beautiful dark locks,
Bianca
These Shoes Were Made for Walking
The NY Times pointed out in this past weekend’s edition that flat soled Espadrilles weren’t always so widely available. A slide show from from the NY Times website states “It used to be you needed a couple of euros and a plane ticket to Catalonia to get a pair of flat-soled espadrilles. This summer, the classic canvas-and-jute shoes, which have been made in Spain since the 14th century, seem to have finally caught on here.” Honestly, I don’t think I realized how unique Espadrilles are to Catalonia during my first trip to Barcelona.
(pssst…Barcelona is the Capital of the Catalonian region of Spain and one of my favorite cities. Spanish is spoken there in edition to Catalan, a language that sounds something like the midway point between French and Spanish. It’s a cultural center, alive with art, & music and is located on a beach. Amazing.)
Sometimes I rock the Espadrilles with a bit of a lift, but just as regular heels aren’t always practical, espadrilles aren’t either. Even though I would love an excuse to visit Barcelona, or as the locals say…Barthelona, it’s nice to know that a piece of this incredible city is available state side.
Also, Stella McCartney has designed these shoes for ADIDAS for going to and from the gym. Sure, that sounds ridiculous. But I get it. Sometimes the last thing I want to do is put on those smelly gym shoes after my shower. And It’s best to only use your running shoes for running. Not the walk to the gym as well.
And for my last shoe item. Sanüks are great. Mine are made out of yoga mats and are sooo comfortable. “Sanük” is the Thai word for happiness and balance. Visit the website. Be sure to roll over the SAAAAA-WHAT tab. They’ll teach you how to say the company’s name properly, and they have a sense of humor about it.
Lastly, Kim Kardashain is blonde! I’m sort of upset about this…I love how my girl crush looked with her beautiful dark hair. What do you think?
Romping Around
Call me old fashioned, but I think rompers are for babies. Even Kim Kardashian can’t seem to pull one off and that girl could rock a burlap sack. So, what’s the deal with the big push behind them?
Speaking of Kim, she also blogged about how to get a recent look that she wore to an event for less.
While these bracelets are a little on the pricey side of things, they are so cute. Also, I’ve seen bright watches on women for the past few days, and I think they are adorable. I’m not even a watch fan and I might go get one.
Also, good jewelery is not so easy to come by. There’s Charlie, who my grandmother has gone to for years, but she loves costume jewelery and I only really go to him for repairs. There’s the obvious big names, but what about something different and relatively affordable? A friend of mine has launched her own website including her designs. They are definitely worth checking out. And, according to her website, she’ll be in AC in October if you want to check out the designs in person.
