The Dream of the 90s is Alive in Fashion

Some models come and go while some leave a lasting impact on the fashion industry and beyond. Case in point, the iconic Supermodel Era of the 90s, whose vibrant personalities and versatility were just as important as the designs they were wearing. Models such as Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell took the world by storm and epitomized not only the glamour that came with being the most successful models in the industry, but the fun and lightheartedness of it all, from their professional relationships/friendships with their peers, designers and photographers to the high spirited runway shows where smiles and personality were hardly a rarity like they may be now.
In the great big pool of fashion and all it’s variety, I am always in the mood for the daring, free spirited and charming fashions of which these models are reminiscent. In Muse Magazine’s March ‘12 issue, we’re given Lady Doll, photographed by Mariano Vivanco, where the legend of the supermodel is alive and well.
Things That Make You Go ‘Hmm’: Diane von Furstenberg’s New Spring Ad Campaign
As Americans, we are inundated with advertisements of all shapes and sizes everywhere we go. And thanks to the internet and things like ‘viral videos’ the way in which companies choose to showcase their products is at least getting a little more creative. But we have never seen anything quite like this.
For her Spring 2012 ads, designer Diane von Furstenberg, or better known to you and me as the initials DVF, has decided to go for a decidedly surrealist art-y bent – that looks different with each ad.
The campaign feature models with their faces cut-out and instead there is a mirror, which reflects the sky above or, if you want to get up in there, your own face. Clever? Kooky? You decide! We think it’s actually a pretty cool idea.
Fall Folliage
One of our favorite stores, DSW has cute commercials for fall. They commercials are complete with shoes talking to each other. Glamour is on the look out for all the ladies trying to save a buck, as their website features accessories under fifty dollas. Yes, I said dollas. Get over it.
The New York Times has a new piece from Bill Cunningham highlighting his Fashion week observations, as well as a video on how the Catwalks in fashion shows are slowly becoming more diverse.
Good Housekeeping is putting As Seen on TV products to the test so you don’t have to. Check it out before you scoop up your next Shamwow.
